Wrexham return to the EFL exactly 15 years on this day after being relegated from it

Wrexham return to the EFL exactly 15 years on this day after they were relegated from it, ending so much hurt and uncertainty.

Wrexham went into Saturday evening’s game knowing they would clinch the National League title with a win over Boreham Wood. And that was exactly what they done, but after an initial scare.

The Welsh club owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, also had actor Paul Rudd in attendance, drinking in a bar prior to kick off.

Elliott Lee equalised after Lee Ndlovu gave the visitors a shock lead just 45 seconds in, before Paul Mullin put Wrexham in front with a stunning curling strike on 52 minutes.

Mullin then got his 45th goal in 49 games this season, another screamer, to make it 3-1 to Wrexham, sending the fans inside the Racecourse Ground wild.

This is how Twitter users reacted as Wrexham return to the EFL exactly 15 years on this day after being relegated from it…

@DWNZ07: Just shows the difference owners that believe can make rather than owners more interested in money. Dream, believe, achieve. Well deserved ๐Ÿ‘ #WrexhamAFC

@AGShizzle: A miracle what a league one striker can do in the national League ๐Ÿ™„
