Who are favourites to win the League One playoffs?

Who are favourites to win the League One playoffs? We take a look at what bookies Sky Bet are saying with it due to begin this week.

Four teams have secured their spots after a points-per-game (PPG) equation was applied and they’ve only played around 34 and 35 games as opposed to the usual 46.

A ball hasn’t been kicked since March and in the last four weeks, they have prepared for a series of future-defining games, which at one point within the pandemic didn’t look like going ahead.

Here is a look at the much anticipated League One play-off schedule, with all matches to be played behind closed doors, with some clubs choosing to fill the stands with cardboard cut out of their supporters, which can been seen live on Sky Sports.

Portsmouth v Oxford – 5:30pm
Fleetwood v Wycombe – 7:30pm

Second leg – Monday 6th July

Prior to the break, three of the four clubs had an inconsistent run of form.

Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth are currently unbeaten at home in the league this season, but have only won two of their last five matches prior to lockdown.

They finished 5th in the table and face Karl Robinson’s Oxford who finished 4th, and have won all of their last five matches before the pandemic.

Gareth Ainsworth’s Wycombe finished in 3rd, making it their highest ever finish in English football; resulting in them making their debut appearance in the third tier play-offs.

Standing in their way is Joey Barton’s Fleetwood, who have been in the League One playoffs before as they were defeated by Bradford over two legs in 2016/17. They will be hoping to take maintain their impressive form of 12-game unbeaten games.
