West Ham fans were urged mid-game to stop throwing objects after Fiorentina player Cristiano Biraghi is struck in the head.
Fiorentina’s captain Cristiano Biraghi had blood flowing from the back of his head after he was hit by a cup that West Ham fans threw during the Europa Conference League final.
The 30-year-old Italian walked to the corner in the 34th minute and was hit by multiple plastic cups thrown by Hammers fans.
West Ham’s players tried to calm their own fans down and an announcement was made at the stadium warning them to stop their behaviour.
Nicolas Gonzalez was again hit with cups during a forward run, with the winger responded to the joke by taking a drink.

“It’s play-acting, there’s no other way to say what it is,” said Dean Ashton live on talkSPORT.
“We don’t want to see that from the supporters.”
WestHamZone wrote: “That was an utterly ridiculous moment from the Hammers fans. It’s incidents like this which give English fans a bad name abroad. It’s something we don’t want to see. As for West Ham’s performance in the first half, it was nearly as bad as the behaviour of their fans.”
Simon Stone (BBC Sport in Prague): “Another load of plastic cups were thrown then as Fiorentina took a corner. Someone is scurrying across to take them off the pitch but it is not a good look.”
Scott Minto (Former Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live): “The West Ham fans shouldn’t be doing that, they don’t need to be doing it. It is poor and not needed, so disgraceful. Do not get involved in things like this.:
Simon Stone: “This is not great from the West Ham fans. Every time Fiorentina get a corner, missiles are thrown. Security announcement over the tannoy telling them to stop.”
Former West Ham midfielder Joe Cole on BT Sport on crowd trouble: “It’s moronic behaviour, it really is.
“We’ve been praising the West Ham fans, and rightly so. It only takes a handful of idiots to do that. It needs to be sorted out and taken out of the game.”
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright: “Ugly scenes. Biraghi has blood pouring from the cut on the back of his head. He’s having to be bandaged up. It initally appeared the players were going to be taken off the pitch but play looks set to continue shortly.”
The Hammers weren’t ahead for long as on 67 minutes, a brilliant finish put Fiorentina ahead. Giacomo Bonaventura controlled the ball with ease after it is headed on to him inside the box and then with his second touch, sent the shot into the far corner.

However, West Ham clinched the winner with minutes remaining as Jarrod Bowen ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy.
Bowen timed his run perfectly as Lucas Paqueta slid a brilliant pass through the Fiorentina defence.

One West Ham fan told PA News his friend was “quite badly” hurt with a “massive cut” on his head.
