West Ham fans take aim at Jesse Lingard with cheeky chants on his return to London Stadium

West Ham fans take aim at Nottingham Forest’s Jesse Lingard with cheeky chants on his return to the London Stadium on Saturday.

Lingard was at the Hammers for a loan period from Manchester United during the second half 2020/21 season, finding the net nine times in 16 Premier League matches.

After a long loan period, he went back to Old Trafford and was released as a free agent, before going to Forest last summer.

West Ham fans trolled the player throughout the league match at the weekend with videos taunting 30-year old in the big win over Forest.

Chants of “Lingard’s an a w**ker everywhere that he goes” and “Lingard, what’s the time?” in reference to reports that his West Ham watch was stolen from his dressing room.

Lingard made a brief appearance in the second half but it yet to score in the league for Forest, but has scored twice in the Carabao Cup.

Forest are currently at 13th place on the table with 25 points from 24 games played.

Danny Ings scored his first goals for West Ham, setting his side on their way to a massive 4-0 win that saw David Moyes’ side pull themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone.

Ings, who moved to the Hammers from Aston Villa back in January, produced two identical goals in the second-half to completed a remarkable display sealing all three points.

Although the ex-Burnley and Liverpool striker was quiet for long periods, his clinical finishings settled the nerves of the home crowd and allowed the hosts to continue their dominating win.

Declan Rice (captain) and Michail Antonio (substitute) also got on the scoresheet to extend their lead.

Forest have managed only three goals away from their home in this campaign and were rather disappointing throughout.

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper as per BBC Sport: “We managed the situation well away from home as they hadn’t caused us too many problems, that was the plan. If anything the game was there for us.

“We conceded a goal but then what happened is not acceptable. The game was taken away from us, it’s our own fault and we have to face it.

“Conceding goals quickly was happening to us at the start of the season and we made poor decisions again. It was a mentality thing and we were punished. There are no excuses.

“We’ll review this one, there is lots that needs to be spoken about and looked at. The playesr need to know what we think. We will move on – we have to face up to it and accept it.”

West Ham boss David Moyes said as per Sky Sports: “How long have I been waiting for that? It was nice. We played well in the first half and it could have been another day where we don’t score a goal. When we got the second goal I was beginning to see the West Ham of last year. There were some really good things today.”

“The important thing is I’ve got incredible backing behind the scenes. There is a lot noise but behind the scenes there has been no noise and I’ve been able to get on the with job. To stay in a job for a long time you need good owners. Been fortunate to have fantastic owners at Preston, Everton and I’ve felt the same at West Ham.

“I’m not coming in here with a bottle of champagne and thinking everything is hunky dory but I’m going to enjoy it. And why not? I’ve had lots of bad days. It’s just a start for us.”

West Ham striker Danny Ings to MOTD: “I’ll be honest I am disappointed not to get more goals today but that’s football.

“I was gambling, it was an instinctive run for my first goal and it’s a wonderful feeling. The more I play the more you’ll see it hit the back of the net.

“As a striker goals are everything and it gives you a foundation to kick on and get some momentum.

“You know how tough the Premier League is. How better to kick on than win 4-0 at home?”

West Ham captain Declan Rice: “We knew the pressure of the game, it was big for us at home. We looked really fluid and deserved our goals. I’m delighted to bend one in the corner, the lads are always on at me to have a shot!

“I’ll be going home happy, I don’t score many. We showed in the second half what we are capable of, how we can hurt teams. It was thoroughly deserved.”

Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall: “We didn’t do well enough to recover the third and the fourth and that period was not good enough and too soft.

“Two goals in two minutes is not acceptable at this level. It’s a big step-up for everybody and if you concede two on the bounce you don’t deserve anything from the game.

“It’s not nice at the moment but if we can take something from it and learn from it then the 10-15 minutes the goals came in, we will look to put something right.

“It’s not good enough from us, it’s as simple as that. On the road we haven’t been good enough this season. We need to score more and stop conceding. It’s more inflicting damage on ourselves.

“We’ll back ourselves to beat anyone at home I think but we need to try and take some positives from today.”

This is what social media users said as West Ham fans take aim at Jesse Lingard with cheeky chants on his return to the London Stadium…

@linhblunden: You got to love the fans 😂😂

@whuvision: I get its a laugh but I struggle to get the hatred for Lingard. Was only ever a loan player for us, not even ours, gave us great memories, didn’t want to celebrate out of respect when he scored last season and understandably chose to earn a bucketload. Nothing criminal

@LFabianski1: Could have had it all with us but he chose money

@mrsgod: He’s on less money than you offered. He chose to be closer to his daughter!

@LeoBoi18: still don’t think it’s right. People forget how good he was and what he done for us.

@SamWilsonWhu: I just can’t dislike him.

@ashpurse: Odd behaviour

@PaulSaw11618831: Disgusting. Especially after what he did for you

@ethanc2149: ffs I love this club 😭😭

@LocksmithDuude: Embarrassing to be honest. Lingard scored us some great goals and helped us get Europa League. Lingard doesn’t and never has owed us anything, and we turned on him the moment he wanted to run out his boyhood contract. He should be a loan legend like Moses

@ZombieRocker86: Wherez ya ⌚️ you tit 🤣🤣

@SilverFusion1: Money grabbing cunt

@GarageSkool: Well deserved 😁 Tha twat!!!
