West Brom player allegedly smokes spliff in dressing room after promotion

A West Brom player has been captured on video allegedly smokes a spliff in the dressing room after securing Premier League promotion at The Hawthorns.

To go up automatically the Baggies knew they needed one of these three things to happen: A win, or a draw and Brentford failing and Fulham failing to win by 16 goals, or a defeat with a Brentford loss and Fulham failing to win.

They ended up drawing 2-2 against Queens Park Rangers, however it didn’t go as straightforward as they wanted as at one point they were 1-0 down.

QPR’s Ryan Manning opening the scoring, before Grady Diangana got West Brom’s equaliser before the break.

By half time, fellow promotion-chasers Brentford and Fulham were both trailing 1-0 against Barnsley and Wigan respectively.

It was just minutes into the second half that Callum Robinson tapped in from close-range to put the Baggies back in front, however Eberechi Eze got QPR back on levels terms with around 30 minutes of normal time remaining.

By this point, Brentford were still 1-0 down against Barnsley, however Fulham got a goal back against Wigan, who are down, depending on the outcome of their appeal against their points deduction.

Josh Da Silva gave Brentford an equaliser in the 72nd minute, which dropped Barnsley back into the relegation zone with Luton winning 3-1 against Blackburn.

A late goal in the 91st minute saw Barnsley beat Brentford 2-1, to send West Brom up, keep Barnsley up and send Wigan and Charlton (lost 4-0 to Leeds) down.

Because the Bees went down 2-1 to Barnsley, it meant Slaven Bilic’s side were up, leading to the celebrations starting inside and outside the ground.

One West Brom player however could be seen on an Instagram Live having a more laid back way of dealing with his side’s promotion back to the Premier League.

As his fellow teammates danced and chanted, Hal Robson-Kanu decided to sit back in full kit and spoke what fans are calling a spliff (slang for cannabis). Cannabis in the form of CBD Oil has been linked to muscle recovery in recent years, with many professional athletes openly using a non-psychoactive, WADA approved compound as part of their training regime – best cbd oil uk

Expressing his delight on social media, the former Wales international posted via his Instagram account: “WE’RE BACK!!!!

“What an incredible season!!! See you next season @PremierLeague.”

He ended up scoring ten goals in 39 Championship appearances for the West Midlands side in the 2019/20 season.

Robson-Kanu must have been inspired by his manager, Slaven Bilic, who was pictured here celebrating his side’s shock Euro 2008 win against Germany.

The famous 2-1 victory against Joachim Low’s side sealed Croatia’s place into the quarter-finals.

After last night’s Championship game Bilic said: “It’s at the top (of his achievements). You don’t know how exhausting it was this season. You can’t imagine how proud and happy I am.

“I managed my country (Croatia) for six years and I said no matter which club I manage nothing will compare when you are manager of your national team. I can’t say it’s the same but I feel as proud as I felt then.

“We’ve got work to do but I haven’t thought about it because of this crazy situation. We did a bit of work during the lockdown. Now, not today, not tomorrow or the day after and we’ll see next week.

“What a season – what a league. I know you asked me that and I was very vocal when I said I would always like to manage in the Championship because it’s especially difficult.”

QPR’s Mark Warburton added: “Watching West Brom celebrate on the pitch, it’s going to burn into your soul. I want that.

“The players have been asked and challenged every game, it’s a very high level.

“It was important we came here and showed the appropriate level of commitment. The players deserve a lot of credit.

“We’re happy, teams have come here and if you’re not careful you can get badly hurt. The players have worked hard on the training ground and got the result they deserve to.”

The result means we will see the return of the Black Country between West Brom and Wolverhampton Wanderers. There could be another derby should Aston Villa survive the drop on Sunday, they face a trip to West Ham United.

Dean Smith’s side are already out of the relegation zone, though are level on points with Watford who sit a place below them and face Arsenal, who Villa just beat in midweek.

There was some fan criticism online, which saw Sam Johnstone tell one user to ‘shut up’ after West Brom’s promotion.

He’s been ever-present in the Championship this season and he’s managed to pick up a total of 15 clean sheets.

The fan had a pop at him, saying: “You are one lucky keeper. You throw it out hoping it goes to team-mate and guess what it goes to a QPR player . What a surprise… Not.”

Johnstone simply slammed the user on Twitter: “Shut up mate. We are going up. Good night Mr Negative.”
