West Brom are reportedly in advanced talks with 39 year old Carlos Corberan to become their new head coach, replacing Steve Bruce.
It is expected to be completed by the end of the weekend, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, and is a strong favourite to get the vacant role.
The club sacked Bruce on the 10th of October after an eight-game winless run in the second tier which left them sitting inside the relegation zone.
West Brom are in the bottom three despite beating Reading in their first game since getting rid of Bruce before losing at home to Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Several names have been linked to the role with reports emerging earlier this week that Corberan had held talks with the Championship club.

Sharing his thoughts on Corberan, and whether he would be a good fit at West Brom, Pete O’Rourke told Football League World: “Corberan is a very highly rated coach, having worked under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.
“He did a remarkable job at Huddersfield, getting them to the verge of promotion to the Premier League, only to lose in the play-off final.
“Obviously, he’s a disciple of Bielsa’s. So, it’s his style of football as well, which can be very exciting for fans. And I think that’s what West Brom are looking for right now after a real disappointing time under Steve Bruce.
“He would tick a lot of boxes for West Brom, but again, I think they need to get this managerial search done pretty quickly and make the right decision because it’s a worry that they could be involved in a relegation fight in the championship, which nobody would have expected at the start of the season.”
FLW say: “Corberan is an excellent candidate who certainly has the credentials to advance West Brom from the current position that they are in.
“Still just 39 years old, he is still a very young manager who fits the progressive type of boss and will have fresh ideas to apply at The Hawthorns if tasked with the job.
“A manager who grew a reputation as being one of the best when it comes to individual game plans and general game management, that will certainly be welcomed at The Hawthorns.
“Corberan must be a top candidate at West Brom as things stand, as he is someone who can improve the situation immediately and has the scope to emerge as a top manager.”
Earlier this month, the former Huddersfield Town head coach said he was ready to return to management, providing it was the right fit.
Corberan departed Huddersfield in the summer after guiding the club to the Championship playoff final, which they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.
He later cited a lack of ambition at the Terriers as his reason for leaving. He joined Olympiacos but was only in charge for 11 games before being relieved of his duties.
“If it is the right place to go, of course,” he said recently, when asked if he was ready to get back into management.
“We are coaches, what we love is to coach. The worst moment for me, is when you are without a team.
“The energy you have to improve your players, help your club and develop their resources – to go to the game and make your fans feel proud of the team.
“The feeling you have when you achieve this, is the best thing you can feel.”
Corberan spent time as coach of the Leeds United under 23s before being appointed at the Terriers. He was also assistant to Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.
With West Brom in advanced talks with 39 year old Carlos Corberan to become their new head coach, this is what fans made of it…
@nffc_red_dog: Good coach
@matt_fx9: Hoping this is the right appointment. Very crucial one for us
@stevenwbaprince: What’s Spanish for ‘he’s gorra gooo’ 🤔 #wba
@louorns: Corberan is an excellent coach for a certain type of squad, and I don’t think West Brom suits his play-style at all. He’s a better fit for a Middlesbrough type squad
@MikeyWBAFC: Looks like it Corboran! Good decision IMO! #wba
@BruntyMozza: I’d be happy with Corberan. Took a while to properly get going with Huddersfield but still kept them up (which I’d take for this season) and then did superbly in his 2nd season, losing only 2 of his last 26 games and being unlucky not to get them promoted. #wba
@TibbsAiden: Couldn’t care less if we start shit with corberan or whatever the shit fans are saying, if he can take us to play off finals like he did with Huddersfield I don’t care, just get behind him and stick with him! #WBA
@Brett_J89: Regardless of what people say, this squad of players is good enough to still make the play offs even if it takes a while for CC to implement his style. we have the perfect players for his style of play. GD,JW,BTA,JM,DD are all lively busy players. I think it’s a good choice #wba
@azza_leva3: 🎶 He eats Paella, he drinks Estrella, he loves the baggies 🎶 #wba
@JonathanPratt_: Excluding Dyche because he was never going to come I think I’d rather we got Rosenior, Morris, Critchley, Schumacher or even Stevie G #wba
@James_Morrall93: CC would be the first #wba appointment I have been fully behind since pre pulis days. Bilic I was 50/50 as his football wasn’t great and heavily relied on individual brilliance to win games. Let’s face it CC would have taken Hudds up if they wasn’t cheated in POF. Get behind him.
@scottwba_: Let’s just get behind him. I actually really like his personality, seems genuinely passionate about doing a good job. Really hope this works out #wba
@Etwhite91: Hopefully corberan can get that hard working mentality back within the team and pride back because a lot of players dont give a shit #WBA
@kingofchezo_WBA: Tbf with the constraints of our club that’s probably the best appointment. We ay gonna pay someone compensation are we really? Can’t afford Dyche he wants a premier league club, so he’s a decent young coach out of work who’s probably cheap. This is where we are right now
@sjpatel212: If this comes off I’m ok with this. He knows the league and is a decent coach. We are third bottom and our whole club is a mess. If we think we can get anyone better in our predicament then I think our fan base needs a reality check but that’s just my opinion! #wba
@scottnixon001: Can’t see this working out. CC needs time to get his methods across, are WBA going to write off this season and potentially next to give him time? Can’t see that myself.
@WBADyl: Happy with Carlos Corberan in all honesty, would’ve preferred Dyche but Corberan would’ve been my second choice #wba
@_H74_9: Our fans already turning on Carlos before hes even got the job. #wba
