Wealdstone slam player for featuring in KSI’s Baller League team without club’s permission

Wealdstone have took to slam player Sak Hassan for featuring in KSI’s Baller League Prime FC team without the club’s permission.

The National League club issued a strongly worded statement after their contracted midfielder took part in the opening match of Baller League UK’s third season on Monday night.

Hassan scored while also providing two assists in a 7-3 victory against N5 FC, who are managed by Jens Lehmann.

Wealdstone, who have stated they were not contacted for permission, had no prior knowledge of his participation, are set to play at Gateshead on Tuesday night, his side sit 10th with 48 points from 36 games played, 11 points from the playoffs.

Dagenham are 12th in the National League South, with 53 points from 38 games played, and are 9 points from the playoff places.

Wealdstone FC tweeted: “We are aware that Sak Hassan, under contract with Wealdstone FC, appeared in this evening’s Baller League.

“The club was not approached for permission for Sak to participate, nor were we made aware of his involvement in advance.

“We will now be following up with both the Baller League and the player directly. No further comment will be made until those discussions have taken place.”

Wealdstone’s tweet has gone on to get over 6,000 likes, 3 million views, and hundreds of comments.

A further statement emerged:

WEALDSTONE FC wishes to provide certainty to its supporters after Sakariya Hassan’s decision to take part in the first matchday of Baller League ‘Season 3’ yesterday evening.

“Sak and his representatives are aware he’s in breach of his playing contract by choosing to feature in the Baller League,” explained club chairman Rory Fitzgerald.

Having been omitted from the last two matchday squads, the Somalia midfielder has played a total of 21 minutes from the bench during new manager Gary Waddock’s first four games in charge of the Stones.

“For the sake of absolute clarity, Wealdstone FC retains his official player registration and any decisions relating to the remainder of this season remain in the gift of the club’s Board of Directors,” he added.

Stones’ manager Waddock has confirmed he does not expect 24-year-old Hassan to be part of the team’s plans between now and the end of the campaign – which could still end at Wembley Stadium if the Royals can overcome National League North Marine in a home Isuzu FA Trophy semi-final on Saturday March 28.

Added Fitzgerald: “We’ve already come together with Gary and the coaching team to discuss both short-term and longer-term thoughts around player make-up and recruitment.

“So any work we can do between now and the transfer deadline a week Thursday (March 27) in terms of refining what we’ve got in the building will help us get ahead with refreshing the squad during the summer.”

Netherlands-born playmaker Hassan – who signed in the summer from Isthmian League Premier Division Hashtag United – has featured 32 times for the Stones this season (12 starts + 20 as sub), scoring three goals.

KSI was being questioned by presenter Chunkz on how Hassan’s move to Prime FC came about, while also hinting that Dagenham and Redbridge could potentially sign the 24-year-old for the National League South outfit.

KSI said: “You mentioned him to me, so I talked to him and I was like, ‘bro, I got a big thing coming.'”

“At this point, I didn’t mention Daggers… I was like bro, I’ve got big things…so, there is that, and then also said, bro, think of the clout.”

Here’s the social media reaction as Wealdstone the slam player for featuring in KSI’s Baller League team without the club’s permission…

@MarcusBean: Correct me if I’m wrong. But Is this the owner of a football club admitting to tapping up a player live on national TV 🙈🤔

@Tommy_Cockles: Quite staggering the number of people on here unable to grasp the fact that he’s under contract and paid by Wealdstone football club to play for them and not in some glorified 6 a side kick about. He should be in Newcastle preparing to play for his employer tomorrow evening.

@chrishoward7891: The fact that people are actually defending this Baller League crap shows exactly where Modern Football is, no wonder people have had enough of it.

@TomMarshall94: Bloke is shit every time he starts a game of football anyway. Next.

@YCFC1972:
To all the bots asking why he needs permission.
– He’s contracted to Wealdstone.
– If he gets injured he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his contract with Wealdstone.
– Simple as that!

@Pablo___93: Comments are mental what you mean why is it a problem the club pay for everything for him if he gets injured in baller league are they going to pay for everything in his recovery

@castro1021Newss: The stones are bigger than one player that barely ever plays, if he cares more about @BallerLeagueUK then he can make a permanent move to them! Stones have bigger and better things to worry about!

@CallumJamesQPR: I wonder what the precedent is here, because Baller League isn’t professional football, or sanctioned by the FA. So unless the wording of a players contract either specifically outlines stuff like Baller League; Do they have to ask for permission I wonder…

@nocontextfm1: Going to have a player miss training on FM27 because he played in a Baller League game the night before ffs

@YouYeltz: It’s about bloody time this got called out. If someone’s paying you to represent a football club then it’s clearly disrespectful to be playing in stuff like this on the side. Split your loyalties, split your wages 🤷🏻‍♂️

@CWoodsy14: If you’re actually serious about crafting a playing career you’d leave the 6 a side alone. Pretty brainless move from someone who’s actually a good little player. The club have usually been very fair with allowing players to play in this and earn extra money too. Time and place.

@JakeW2311: The amount of people defending this shit btw. Clearly don’t understand how football contracts work. Not to mention the fact you wouldn’t see cole Palmer play in this would you

@tudorarmyfan: The fans in these comments are just embarrassing. If they ever had these opportunities they would snatch at it. Stop being so daft let the kid play. Hemel are in a huge play off race. We have players playing in it. I would never complain. They have every right to. Embarrassing.

@HTAM96: I am shocked, and appalled that “Baller League” is a hive for non league players to get tapped up and seek 15 minutes of fame for a quick buck. Is nothing sacred anymore?
