The game itself saw Taylor Allen’s late free-kick earn League Two leaders Walsall a 1-1 draw against promotion rivals AFC Wimbledon.
Allen’s eighth goal of the season canceled out Omar Bugiel’s first goal in four months.
Despite the draw, Walsall remains one point ahead at the top of League Two, extending their winless streak to seven games, while AFC Wimbledon drops to fifth, two points behind the top three.
Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson said to the club website: “What I take from it is that I know we are a top team. If we perform like we did, seven more times, we’re going to go very close.
“A point is the least we deserved, I thought it was a really good game. It was two teams that were both going for the win, we got ourselves in front, we wanted to see it out, but they threw everything at us trying to get something from it.
“It was a moment of quality from a player who has done that a few times previously and you have to take your hat off to him. That got them back in the game, but I’m really proud of the lads and the performance. Probably a draw seems a fair result.”
Walsall’s Mat Sadler said, per Express and Star: “Is it enough? I don’t know the answer to that, but it was the least we deserved.
“The first half was quite cagey. Both teams feeling each other out a little bit, not a lot in both really. I thought we came out really strongly in the second half.
“Their goal came against the run of play a little bit because we started to build up a head of steam.
“That sucker punched us a little bit, but I thought the subs we made had a real impact on the game.
“Levi looked a real threat, Albert showed that calmness at times. The legs that they both have, and I thought George and Evan also contributed.”
