Viewers took to criticise Channel 4 for showing a live interview with Paul Gascoigne who was said to be seen ‘shaking’ during the broadcast.
Fans took aim at the channel for doing an interview with Gazza ahead of England’s game against North Macedonia on Monday night.
The Three Lions legend was present for the Euro 2024 qualifier at Old Trafford, which saw England prove too strong for their opponents with a 7-0 victory.
Channel 4 televised the moment they spoke with Gascoigne pre-match, but viewers felt he didn’t look well and his right hand shook during the interview.

Gascoigne, 56, is a footballing legend and is regarded as one of England’s greatest players, but has struggled with alcoholism throughout his life.
He frequently tries to rehabilitate himself but it has only ever provided temporary relief. He is however doing better in recent years, making TV appearances and showing a different side to him.
Talking about Gareth Southgate, Gazza joked: “I’m not being funny, I scored my goal [at Euro 96] and ended up in rehab. You missed your [penalty in the semi-final shoot-out] and got the England manager’s job and a 30 grand Pizza Hut advert!”

Paul Gascoigne won Channel 4’s Scared of the Dark a few months back, as he says the show has “bought his smile back”.
Gazza was selected as the winner of the Channel 4 show, which was presented by Danny Dyer.
His fellow celebrities ran over to congratulate him on his success, having been kept in the dark for a number of days.
Scarlett Moffatt, Chris McCausland, Donna Preston, Chloe Burrows, Max George and Nicola Adams all left standing while Max George and Chris Eubank leaving.
“It’s time to announce the winner. The person you have chosen as the winner of Scared of the Dark is… Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne,” Danny Dyer said.
Speaking about winning, Paul said he is a “better person” following his time in darkness.
“People always question my mental strength but my success on this series proves that I am strong. I was nervous going in there but having got this far on the series made me the happiest man around. I’m so happy. It’s unbelievable,” he said.
“I’ve got my smile back. I’m a better person. I got electrocuted and got shot with a cannonball in the bollocks. I f***ing fell backwards. I thought I was 50 foot up in the air and I went through all that. So to come out the other side and to be smiling, is such an amazing achievement and to win it is like the most unbelievable feeling, it’s just fantastic.”
He added: “I’m really honoured to have won but in my eyes, all my fellow Scared of the Dark celebrities are winners. They all did really well and I really enjoyed spending those eight days getting to know them in the dark. We worked so well as a team.”
As mentioned, viewers criticise Channel 4 for showing an interview with Paul Gascoigne who was said to be seen ‘shaking’…
@FireManDanDJ: Disgusting using this man for frontline tv. He really needs to be somewhere receiving care not paraded in front of the cameras. Gutting to see.
@FootballMartin_: This is so sad! Why interview the guy let alone broadcast it when his clearly in a terrible way.
@bryanpottsjnr: Why would he be interviewed for. He’s gone. He’s not fit for TV. He might be a football legend from the past but that’s it.
@Agulhas5: So sad
@WhiteleyMackem: Not sure this was the best decision ever @C4Sport, so sad seeing one of my England heros like this
@LordStu1234: Very sad to put him on tv in this state. The man isn’t well.
@nsm_79: Disgusting ch4 allowing this! Poor bloke clearly not well!! But well done him for trying!
@christ666_anti: If this isn’t an advertisment against abusing alcohol I dont know what is
@PrimeNewForest: You should be ashamed of yourselves. Absolutely disgusting TV stunt.
@couplandmichael: Absolutely shocking @C4Sport putting Gazza on the tele in his poor state. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
@Ml19dy76: Gazza should be allowed to be resting, he is clearly unwell and you are trying to get him on TV for what? Ratings?
@andrewcoyle15: Not good to see that. The microphone was all over the place. Clearly still struggling with his demons
@DavidRi41127350: I admire you as a great football reporter Kelly that’s why you should of refused to do that interview. C4 have exploited a vulnerable England Legend for viewing figures!
@mc_chug: This is terrible by channel 4 Gazza shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the tv he’s not well at all very very poor by channel 4. Such a shame to see a living legend in this state I really hope he recovers very soon.
@sportingminute: I beg, can we please stop putting Gazza on TV in this state ffs?
@Gooners_EIE: Sorry, but this is poor by @Channel4. Gazza should be nowhere near a TV camera in that state.
@Lauren_Sadlerx: Something uncomfortable about popping him on TV when he is clearly struggling
@Warren__Bishop: Gazza shouldn’t be anywhere near a microphone with the state he looks. Doesn’t look well at all 😔
@DeanoCummings85: who in their right mind thought it appropriate to put a microphone in his fucking hand and put him on live TV.
@DennyBaldwin: No place for Gazza on TV like this he’s clearly not well and in a very bad state can we just leave the fella alone? I like the fact they want him around but someone had to pull the plug prior to going live surely
@Jack_Rogers97: Poor Gazza looks so unwell man that’s poor on channel 4 for even thinking about bringing him he clearly needs rest.
@TomWilcock8: Thats poor from Channel 4. The guy shouldnt be on TV
@Baxta182: Get this off the telly you fucking bellends
