Viewers blown away by inspiring Jude Bellingham interview after England lose to France

Viewers were blown away by Jude Bellingham over his inspiring interview after England lose their World Cup quarter final clash to France.

Jude Bellingham has heaped praise on England manager Gareth Southgate as the Three Lions fell to a 2-1 loss against France on Saturday night, with Harry Kane missing a crucial penalty in the second half.

The squad are now making the journey back to England as they reflect on the tournament with Birmingham City academy graduate Bellingham one of the standout players for England throughout, starting all four games. He scored his first international goal in the opening match against Iran.

The 19-year-old was given his England debut by Southgate in November 2020 just months after his move from St Andrew’s to Borussia Dortmund. After the game, the England boss hinted that he could think about his future in the job, by saying he will take time to “reflect”.

Bellingham: Yeah I think we were in my opinion the better team on the day I think we had deserved definitely extra time obviously H was really unlucky with the penalty scored tons for us in the past but yeah I think sometimes that’s how it goes in football and kind of got a look ahead but take the lessons that we’ve learned from today and yeah take it moving forward

Interviewer: Considering you’ve got two penalties I’m still wondering what you thought of the referees overall performance

Bellingham: Not great from being honest not great um I think you know anyone can have a bad game players and referees and I think yeah he wasn’t he wasn’t where he should have been today in terms of the level for a game like this but you know there’s more factors as to why we lost there’s definitely this is definitely not me you know putting it all on him we were the ones who played the game but yeah he I don’t think he was at the level tonight well

Interviewer: I’m thinking in the first half what looked like a foul on Saka

Bellingham: I think it was a few around the box in the first half you know how deadly we are from set pieces so I think um any one of those can make the difference those ones around the boxes and I think there was maybe a little one on Makano and for the penalty in the first half but yeah we got two um we converted one didn’t convert the other one yeah that’s how it happens sometimes you still have to play the game which we did we created chances but um couldn’t quite do it tonight

Interviewer: Is there a feeling overall this is a mischance look at this Morocco or France in in the semi-final you guys have obviously underlined yourself that there was real belief that you could win this so what what in that sense is the verdict

Bellingham: I think um every time that an England team’s gone out they’ll feel like it’s a mischance especially with the kind of form that we had coming into this game uh the quality in which we um put aside the first uh four teams so yeah I do feel like it’s a bit of a missed chance but because as everyone keeps reminding me while I was on the pitch there’s more to come but it’s hard to see that in a minute I’m being honest you know you never know when I’m gonna get the chance to play with such a good group of lads again in an England shirt so yeah I just hope that we can use this experience going forward

Interviewer: And a final one on the manager because he’s going to consider his future what what what’s the feeling in the group about the manager

Bellingham: I can’t thank him enough really for what he’s done for me um I’ve got nothing but kind of good words and respect for the manager

Interviewer: And do you think you’ll stay?

Bellingham: um I think it’s something that it’s not really in my business you know um I’ve with no disrespect to the question I feel like whatever decision he makes as a nation we’ve got a respect for the things that he’s done for for this nation for the team the way he’s progressed us from what was a little bit hopeless at times to a team that um kind of shines Hope on the whole on the whole nation and makes people believe and although we haven’t done as well as we would have liked in this tournament I think again we’ve showed why we can make steps going forward to being one of the best teams in the world

Former Premier League forward Tony Cascarino reserved special praise for the midfielder, telling talkSPORT’s Weekend Sports Breakfast: “This kid has got the world at his feet.

“He seems so smart that I can’t imagine somewhere along the way he doesn’t win something major, like a Euros or a World Cup.

“He’s got something that is very rare and that’s a humbleness about him, plus being smart.

“He’s had a terrific tournament. He’s become the talk [of it].

“I’ve hated it because I’m thinking Liverpool can’t buy him now because no one is going to be able to buy him. He’s going to go into that bracket of too expensive.”

As mentioned, viewers were blown away by the inspiring Jude Bellingham interview after England lose to France…

@DanWilcox92: What an incredibly mature young man. The future is bright for England with stars like Bellingham, Foden, Saka & James to name a few. 19 years old and he lit up the world stage, blows your mind 🤯

@charlietipler: He speaks incredibly well for his age. Hold your head up, plenty of the squad will go again in Germany and the WC in 2026

@Travman9507: Thay’s actually what hearts the very most because England were awful over them and better in the second half but lacked that killer instinct. They have to find it and fast otherwise these ‘better team’ moments and then losing will continue

@Tbone45Tony: He is going to be a top player.calm down, Gareth Southgate is building a squad. yes we may have benefited from changes, we were not helped by ref, bud the squad now understand competition football. Welcomn home lads, hold your heads up high.

@pjmcintyre: England have developed rapidly, the art of simulation, like their counterpart opponent’s, by the act of pirouetting and tumbling to the ground, like toy soldiers. Maguire’s stunt, that gave Rashford the chance to level at the death, is one example.

@Trickyred1: Every chance that we see a future England captain before us here. Has maturity beyond his years. His parents must be glowing.

@MrMattJarvis: What an incredible person he is! 19 years old and talks so well under incredibly difficult circumstances! Top top player! Huge future ahead!

@bainespne: Such a mature lad as well as a great footballer. His parents must be well proud 👏

@CraigPerkins17: England’s best player in this tournament. One of the big positives is knowing at 19, this lad will continue to get better and better. Outstanding talent
