Fights broke out with one individual, a young kid, reportedly being knocked out, before coming back round.
The travelling Hammers fans had to be escorted by police to the ground in an effort to avoid any violence. However there was still a notable clash in the streets outside the 62,000-capacity stadium.
As chants were sung around the streets, police moved to protect the fan from further attacks.
The match has since gone ahead with no issue within the stadium, however police are continuing to crack down on hooligans running outside lashing out at the authorities.

The two London rivals went into the game desperate to end trophy droughts.
Spurs returned to action following a two-week break with a 2-2 draw vs Liverpool at the weekend, while West Ham saw their match against Norwich called off.
Spurs remain without a major trophy since last winning the League Cup in 2008, and they saw another chance of silverware disappear on Monday as UEFA threw them out of the European Conference League by ruling that they had forfeited their match against Rennes.
West Ham already beat their rivals once this season – a 1-0 Premier League victory in October – to make it back-to-back wins in this fixture, and another in midweek would see them make it three on the bounce for the first time since May 2014.
West Ham’s own major trophy drought stretches all the way back to 1980, when they last lifted the FA Cup, however their performances this season both domestically and in Europe have raised hope that they might just end that wait.
Saying that, West Ham’s bright start has faltered slightly in recent weeks, with a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal last week meaning that they have now won just one of their last six games.
The postponement of Saturday’s match against Norwich meant that they had a full week to prepare for this game, though, as they looked to reach the semi-finals of the League Cup for the first time since beating Spurs in the 2013-14 quarters and keep their hopes of winning the trophy for the first time ever alive.
MATCH REPORT:
On the 29th minute, Spurs broke the deadlock, as Steven Bergwijn held up the ball well in the box and found Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Hojbjerg took a couple of touches and found Bergwijn in space and the Dutchman made no mistake.
West Ham went level on the 32nd minute after Nikola Vlasic blasted in a wayward shot which reached Jarrod Bowen in the box. A brilliant shimmy made a fool of Eric Dier and he hammered a shot past Hugo Lloris.
That move started from a poor Dier clearance being intercepted.
Two minutes later, Tottenham regained their lead. Steven Bergwijn showed quick feet to break into the box and get towards the byeline before cutting it back for Lucas Moura to score from six yards.

@TidyTouch10: West Ham fans need to keep their reputation of the Green Street sequel and think they’re a load of hooligans.Immature, childish and damn right stupid. You’re supposed to be watching a football match, not looking for a fight with fans of another club.
@TonyShaughness1: @MPSWestHamUtdFC shocking the response to West Ham being attacked outside in the Corden areas and the holding us to walking into more Tottenham fans. Not happy being attacked twice but police standing there in there line ??????
@whufcharrison: Tottenham fan tried pretending they were West Ham, walked us to wrong area then had a dig at Oisin and ran behind stewards, scummy cunts these lot😂
