Video surfaces of West Ham fan taunting Newcastle players with ‘battered’ comment before 5-1 defeat

A video surfaces of a West Ham fan taunting the Newcastle players with his ‘battered’ comment before the 5-1 defeat on Wednesday.

The clip was uploaded to Twitter after the Magpies picked up the big victory at the London Stadium, with Hammers supporters flooding through the exits mid-game.

Before the game, a West Ham fan shouts to the Newcastle players that he is hoping they are on the end of a battering.

But it wouldn’t be surprising if he was one of the many who ended up walking out in masse hours after his famous last words with 15 minutes remaining and the score at 3-1 to Newcastle.

West Ham supporters were no doubt pleased over their side picking up a win against Southampton three days before.

It was a big victory. However, the performance put in against Newcastle brought them back to reality with the club sitting outside the drop zone on goal difference.

Jarrod Bowen has called for his ’embarrassing’ West Ham side to stop brushing their situation under the carpet and ‘feel the hurt’.

They have now picking up just 14 wins from their last 55 Premier League matches under David Moyes.

Fans sent a clear message to the board with what they thought of the situation in the 79th minute.

“It’s an embarrassing performance at the end of the day, there’s nothing positive to take out of it,” Bowen told Premier League Productions after the game.

“It was a massive game coming off Sunday, so it is disappointing. We’ve got to feel that it hurts tonight, we have another game on Saturday so we have to turn hurt into joy.

“It’s too late in season to brush things under the carpet, we are in this position and have to face it head on…

“These fans demand so much more, and we demand not giving up on the pitch. It was criminal to concede two more on top of that. It is time to be negative now as it was not a good performance, but then we look to Saturday…

“Fans were right to voice their concern. We take that on chin from the fans, we are a family at this club, we don’t want to put out results like that. On Saturday they will travel in numbers, it’s up to us to show a performance.”

Goalscorer Callum Wilson was given a task to perform a certain goal celebration by his podcast co-host, West Ham striker Michail Antonio, on an episode of The Footballer’s Football Podcast which aired in August 2022.

Wilson had vowed to do it if he scored against the West Ham at home, and after only six minutes on the pitch, had the opportunity to make good on the promise, saying he loved doing it in front of the Hammers fans.

‘You could finish it off with the salute,’ Antonio said at the time, before rising to the challenge.

‘I don’t want any of this donkey dancing like you did before,’ Wilson warned his co-host.

After a short pause, Antonio told him to ‘do the Macarena. With a nice little salute at the end.’

Wilson agreed it, and teased: ‘I might do it against you, you know. Do the Macarena against West Ham! Oh my word. That would be classic.’

After rubbing salt into the wounds by doing it against West Ham years later, Wilson told Sky Sports: ‘Me and Michail Antonio do a podcast together and he’s been giving me some stick saying whoever scores needs to do that celebration and today it was nice to do it in front of West Ham fans.

When questioned about forgetting to do it in Antonio’s face, Wilson added: ‘Yeah you get caught up in the moment and it was one of those things do a dance for the fans, got a little stick from the fans but it’s nothing personal.

‘I love scoring at that place [London Stadium] and I’ve promised to do the Macarena,’ Wilson said in their latest episode. ‘I want all the bubbles blowing on me while I’m doing it if I score there. But maybe I’ll have to do it from the bench – I’ll be warming up doing the Macarena!’

‘I’m going to kick you,’ laughed Antonio. ‘I’ll be on the bench, but if you’re there, I’ll come and kick your ankle!’
