Everton fans have ben mocked over their ‘cult heroes’ banner featuring a loan player who scored two in 17 games… Landon Donovan.
The 41 year old made just 17 appearances across two loan spells. However, he somehow managed to get onto an eye-catching banner that featured some of the most prominent faces from the Toffees’ history.
David Moyes brought Donovan in to join his team in 2010, and again in 2012. He scored a total of two goals while Everton fell short of European qualification twice.
Apart from the strikes against Sunderland and Hull City, Donovan also had nine assists during his two stints on Merseyside. He was also named Club Player of the Month in January 2010 and 2012.

It seems that his short stints weren’t forgotten by the Everton faithful, who have since been ridiculed for including him in a recent giant flag.
It was created by Gwladys Street 1938, a fan-led group, featuring some of the clubβs most recognisable heroes, such as Graham Stuart, Leighton Baines and Tim Cahill.
Club captain Coleman praised the efforts of the group when speaking to EvertonTV in 2022.
He said: “It’s amazing. The amount of hours that have gone into it – 150 hours, I believe – is incredible. It’s a great honour to be on there, to be amongst so many great players and it’ll be great to see it on the Gwladys.
“It’s always a nice touch when you look over and you see something like this at the Gwladys Street – it gives the players confidence going into a game.”
Club Ambassador and Blues FA Cup winner Graham Stuart, who is also included, added: “It’s fantastic to be on there.
“As well as the amount of time that has been spent on it, the likeness of everybody is fantastic.
“That’s what we’ve always had at this football club – characters… it’s what makes Everton so special.
“We’ve had so many good characters, who were also excellent players, over the years.”
As mentioned, Everton fans have been mocked on social media over their ‘cult heroes’ banner featuring loan player Landon Donovan who scored two in 17 games…
