VIDEO: Steve Bruce hijacks De Bruyne interview to reveal he is joining Newcastle

A hilarious video has been uploaded to social media which shows Steve Bruce hijacks a Kevin De Bruyne interview to reveal he is joining Newcastle.

Despite being beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in Sunday evening’s FA Cup quarter final clash at St James’ Park, Brucey was certainly in good spirits.

Birthday boy De Bruyne, aged 29, scored a first half penalty, with Raheem Sterling killing off the game with 20 minutes left to play.

The current FA Cup holders posted a video via their Twitter account, showing mischievous Bruce gatecrashed the player’s interview.

Wandering behind the Belgian international, the Newcastle boss decided to jump in and tell the camera the Etihad legend was “sick of Man City” and would head to St James’ this summer.

Bruce joked: “He’s gonna stay here. He’s gonna stay here and come here, OK?

“That’s an exclusive out of Newcastle tonight.

“He’s had enough of Manchester City and he’s gonna come and play for Newcastle.”

Kevin played in a slightly deeper midfield role but still ran the game and caused too many problems for Newcastle to cope with, and De Bruyne showed how happy he was to return to winning ways following the defeat to former club Chelsea on Thursday – which secured the title for Liverpool their first for 30 years.

It has been revealed that it was manager Pep Guardiola who asked him to play a different role.

De Bruyne told the club’s official website: “I just do my job for the team. (The role) doesn’t really matter. In my career, I’ve played lots of positions.

“The coach asked me to do something different. We can also play with five at the back.

“We have enough good players up front to make the difference. It’s my job to help the team and get them in good positions.”

Penalties had become an issue for Guardiola’s men this season, but De Bruyne was given that task too and confidently dispatched it, which suggests maybe he’ll be on the permanently in future matches.

He said: “We had a few problems this year (with penalties) and the gaffer asked me to step up against Real Madrid.

“I’ve scored a couple now. If I’m the taker, I’ll try. There will be a day when I’ll miss. You have to take responsibility, but it’s good.”

He said on the game overall: De Bruyne said: “We should have scored more but played really well and created enough chances to score a lot of goals.

“We’re happy to be in the semi-final at Wembley and hopefully we’ll play a good game.”

Steve Bruce has previously said of Kevin De Bruyne: “Is there a better midfield player at the moment than him? He seems to have got everything in his locker. He can score a goal, he sees a pass and he’s got a wonderful delivery.”
