A referee was punched in the face during a pre-season friendly, and the shocking footage of it has been put on social media.
The act of violence came after the official handed a Sporting Club de Mundial player a red card in London on Sunday.
Police and ambulance services attended, and 28 year old referee Satyam Toki said that he is currently deciding whether to press charges or not.
Is it any wonder referees turn their backs on amateur football.

Sporting Club de Mundial, who are set up by the Mundial media outlet, say the player has been removed from the non league club and will be offered mental health support.
They said on Twitter: “In regards to the event during our friendly match against North West London yesterday [Sunday], we as a club would like to publicly state that we categorically condemn the horrific actions by one of our players towards the referee.
“The individual involved has been completely removed from the football club and we are committed in supporting the referee, and appropriate authorities with their investigation into the incident.
“As a club, we are 100% committed to upholding the values of the Respect campaign and regret yesterday’s events wholeheartedly.
“We have reached out to @refsupportuk to offer any assistance to their incredible initiatives supporting grassroots referees, and to offer our sincere apologies to the referee involved. We will also be offering the player access to free mental health support.”
MUNDIAL added: “We condemn the actions, and will be working closely with SCDM to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We’ve been in constant contact with the players this morning, and everyone is on the same page.”
Referee Toki said before the video came out showing himself being puunched in the face during a friendly: “Hi All I had a friendly game this afternoon which was abandoned 5 minutes before the half time whistle after a player punched me 3 times above my eye as he was sent off for threatening me. He was initially sin bin for a dissent while leaving the pitch he threatened me where he was shown red card.
“I got punched by him 3 times and had severe bleeding. Police was called as well ambulance. In the mean time the guy who punched me had disappeared from the ground. Once police arrived they managed to get hold of the player details and initially speak to him.
“I was given option to press charges on him but i was told he has recently qualified as a teacher and that would lead to his dismissal and of course destroy his career, teacher and that would lead to his dismissal and of course destroy his career.
“I have reported this to FA through the Whole game system. What else could i do in this situation? Pictures attached. Thanks.”

Really…..
newly qualified school teacher…..?Let’s just say he could repeat it in a classroom…..
would you like your kids to be taught by him?— The Real Gaffer (@GafferReal) August 11, 2020
A lot of players packing in Saturday football for this reason – having to share a field with cretins like this. Get them every week nowadays, not worth the grief. Assaulting a referee should be a lifetime ban.

It was some proper toddler windmill punching.

In my view this behaviour warrants a prison sentence, a lifetime ban and the club also fined heavily for failing to have a regime of respect for match officials. Referees don’t expect Alan Shearer when their refereeing amateur football but clubs still expect Howard Webb.

Wouldn’t matter whether he did press charges. If the lad hadn’t had any previous, they would go down the restorative justice route. I’ve experienced it firsthand. Absolute shambles.

Absolute disgrace. Hope he gets severely punished. Without referees we don’t have a game. Takes a lot of bottle to become an official and they deserve our full respect. We have the best refereeing standards in the world imho. I just hope this ref feels able to carry on #FA

He should be dealt with accordingly regardless of the consequences. Is he the type of person we want teaching children anyway? I still play veterans football and strongly feel referees should be protected at all costs.

I wouldnt want the hot head teaching my son. he should lose his job because of his actions which he cannot take back.. not because of the charge or not. Police seem to have pressured this ref to save paperwork

He’s not wanted in the teaching profession if that’s the way he behaves. I expect the majority of teachers and members of the public would support him being charged with assault.

No hesitation, call the cops, full charges, arrested and banned for life.

Horrendous. Criminal offence. Kids obviously got issues but there’s no excuse. You choose to play, you choose to have respect. Prison sentence.

Lowest of the low. we all get frustrated but this is ridiculous.

I don’t care about his career, he needs prosecuting, not only so he is held responsible for his actions, but also to dissuade others from this kind of action.
— Horwich RMI AFC (@HorwichRMIAFC) August 10, 2020
I think you should have pressed charges. Nobody should be behaving like this without punishment. He doesn’t deserve to be teaching kids anyway. Christ knows what he teaches them.
— CPFCBarbarian (1861) (@CPFCBarbarian) August 10, 2020
Well it’s comforting to know that he will be working with kids every day ….
— Chester Copperpot (@PekChopExpress) August 10, 2020
If a person behaves like that, they should not be a teacher or anywhere near children. This absolutely has to be reported to the police. The FA should do it if this poor guy won’t
