VIDEO: Sent off non league manager held back by players after threatening referee

A video has gone viral after it appears to show a sent off non league manager held back by players after threatening the referee.

We all understand how competitive football can be at any level, however, things got extremely out of hand on Saturday when Bristol Manor Farm faced Paulton Rovers in the FA Trophy.

Footage appears to capture the moments after the manager of Bristol Manor Farm, Lee Lashenko, was then given his marching orders by the official.

It’s had over 120,000 views and counting, with fans immediately giving their opinion, with some kind of punishment demanded by the majority.

To the official’s credit, he and his assistants remained calm throughout getting the abuse and simply attempted to ignore the rather unprofessional manager who was getting more and more irate seemingly because he wasn’t getting a reaction.

Southern League Division One South outfit Bristol Manor Farm ended up losing 2-1 to Paulton Rovers of the Southern Football League Division One West.

Rovers made it successive cup progressions at The Creek, taking an early lead after keeper Ben John had already made two fine stops in the match but was finally beaten by Ed Butcher. The forward beat some lapse defending, before tucking the ball into the corner.

Manor Farm then wasted a huge opportunity to equalise shortly afterwards when midfielder Lloyd Mills turned superbly in a busy area, however chipped his effort over.

Paulton then had a pair of chances to double their lead, Liban Ibrahim getting clear of Steve Kingdon, but the advancing John did brilliantly to save.

When John was beaten a minute later, he had teammate Josh Ford to thank as Butcher rounded the keeper, but saw his low effort cleared by the defender.

Farm should levelled on the 30th minute, Bament turned inside and found Owen Howe, but his fierce shot was saved well by Aaron Sainsbury after faking past a Paulton defender.

Butcher, who was allowed in far too easily, had more than enough time and space to find the unmarked Leighton Thomas who rifled home on the counter attack. 2-0 Paulton.

Manor Farm managed to get a goal back thanks to Kyle Tooze who showed brilliant persistence which saw defender James Byrne make a mistake, and his sliding pass found Howe who had an easy task of rolling his third goal in five days.

Manor Farm almost got an equaliser just minutes afterwards with substitute Jayden Nielsen sending Howe out wide, before sending a low cross to Tooze was expertly intercepted by Rovers’ Dan Dempsey.

Things got tougher for Farm with 15 minutes to play as captain Aron Robbins, already booked five minutes before for a late challenge, was given his marching orders for an equally poor tackle on Brown.

John twice denied an insurance goal for the visitors, before Manor Farm came close to forcing another shootout when Tooze’s effort was blocked late on.

As a video of the sent off non league manager held back by players after threatening the referee went viral, fans took to react on it…

@sigoody6: Club should face a points deduction and he should get the sack end of!! Disgraceful!!!

@JamesBeardwell: Totally disgraceful and outrageous. Their manager should be banned for life imo. His behaviour is totally unacceptable

@happyharryplank: Manor Farm fan here. I was at the game and witnessed this. It’s disgraceful and indefensible, no officials should have to put up with that sort of shit.

@terrykeogh3: This is tough on you fella because the majority of BMF fans are really decent, honest supporters. The manager has tarnished the club’s reputation almost beyond repair.

@C0NKS: Helpful gentleman in the Grey top to the referee ‘Get the fuck in your room now!!!’ whilst also putting hands on him. Maybe take the aggressor away from the situation and leave the referee to safely make his way to the changing room.

@tucker004: Hope the Referee is ok? It’s a horrible position to be in. Unless you’ve been on the end of this sort of mass abuse it’s hard to imagine how you feel during and afterwards. The Manager has to be sacked though if the club had anything about them they’d have done it last night

@davethevalefan: Very true…. easy for fans to laugh, or anyone on social media, but being in that situation is lonely place, and scary. And not something you can easily forgot when you get home.

@DavidrlJones81: How any human being thinks they are able to behave this way towards another is beyond me. I can’t thank all the refs that facilitate my youth games enough for their efforts. Couldn’t care less if they get a decision wrong as they are doing their best. @CoganCoroAFC @Referee_SWFA

@SDivitt: The silence from the club is deafening! Do they think this is ok behaviour?

@Rob14565625Rob: The 3 officials looked very calm in this situation, I hope the 3 officials are not effected by this and continue to officiate. As for the manger in question let’s see what happens with all the evidence in this video clip.

@Liampufc1996: II gave up reffing for the same, had to hide in the home team dressing room as the away team were trying to attack me, had escort to my car. The away team won the game and still acted like that, they had no consequence for their actions and league tried to make me ref them again

@lord_dodds: Why havent @ManorFarmFC sacked him yet?

@darren_m_sage: Horrendous behaviour but not massivly shocked given the club involved. Too many clubs rely on intimidation to sway refs and imagine having to be the next ref down at the creek with the prospect of this in their mind… no amount of money is worth the hassle to a ref.

@unders0007: @TheRefereeForum @The3rdTeam @RepossSTPodcast The disgusting scenes in an FA Trophy game yesterday. Serious action should be taken by the club and the authorities.

@NigelTDyer: I wonder why there is a shortage of officials. 🤔🤔

@GuyChats: Hope the ref reported to the police. My verdict would be lifetime ban from football and caution for assault

@LeeCotton1: Permanent ban and the club excluded from next year’s FA competitions.

@lufconmyleg: The reason kids and grassroots level football are missing out on games because of a clown like this, don’t know whole story but reactions like this with kids watching only results in them doing the same. The game needs referee’s for it to happen#respect @EnglandFootball

@ali_shemmings: This really cannot get brushed under the carpet. If no action is taken, then surely managers/coaches all over the country will think it’s ok to act like this? Please can the FA make sure some sort of action is taken.

@spmooney68: shocking behaviour, credit to the players for stopping the incident escalating further. That individual needs a lengthy ban from football.

@KC_101: Simple let’s hope he gets a ban, sponsors pull out of the club and if the league don’t do anything then pull their sponsorship to! No wonder there is a shortage of referees

@JMazzz: The ironic part of this is, if that manager walked past the referee in the street he wouldn’t have the backbone to say anything to him. Anyone can put on a show with players holding them back.

@danm80: This behaviour is a spill over of a wider societal issue – you see it in road rage incidents and the increasing levels of selfishness of some people. The only way to deal with this is to criminalise those responsible and to ban them from affiliated football for life

@roger_reed2: If this bloke was involved with my Club he would have been dismissed by now. The FA should issue a hefty fine and long ban. Simply no excuse.

@ped1980: Just as well his players kept him away from the officials, guy would have assaulted him otherwise, and for the man in grey top, how about sorting out your manager rather than do what you did, man so angry after seeing this…

@RefEssex: The simple fact @ManorFarmFC have yet to address this is actually disgusting. Has the gaffer been relieved of his duties yet? #RefAbuse #EnoughIsEnoughIsEnough

@IamMase: The “managers” resignation should be on the table first thing in the morning, if not the club need to remove him from his position ASAP!

@refereefit: Shocking. He should be banned from football, there is no excuse for this behaviour.

@theboygibbo: Massively embarrassing behaviour by their manager. By all means talk to the refs and ask questions – this is just a muppet looking to bully a ref. Clown behaviour
