Referee Darren Drysdale can been seen in a video as he bizarrely squares up with Ipswich’s Alan Judge going head to head.
The bizarre moment went viral across social media, with fans now called for the official to get the sack in morning following his surprise actions.
It came in the Tractorboys’ 0-0 draw with strugglers Northampton Town on Tuesday night, leaving Paul Lambert’s side 11th in the League One table.

A managerless Northampton may have come away with a point, but they will feel frustrated it wasn’t the three when they looked the better side throughout the game.
It lifted the Cobblers up two places but they remain inside the relegation zone by goal difference. Ipswich, who finished with 10 men, moved up a place but are four points off the top six.
Blues keeper Tomas Holy pulled off a save from an incoming shot by Sam Hoskins and then hacked clear after Troy Parrott’s loose pass was seized on by Mark Marshall.
Holy smothered Jack Sowerby’s effort, Luke Matheson blocked an effort by Hoskins, and with the half coming to a close, Peter Kioso smashed the post and Marshall pulled his shot wide.
James Norwood, who was subbed on in the 71st minute, forced Northampton keeper Jonathan Mitchell into his first save of the game and to heap further misery on a woeful performance for the Suffolk outfit, before Flynn Downes was then sent off in stoppage time after getting a second yellow card.
Members of independent supporters’ group Blue Action set off flares, lit a fire and chanted ‘we want Lambert out’ while the first team squad were training, prompting the club to suspend the session.

Bent said: “People are clearly not happy with the football that they’re seeing. Last season completely fell off, they were in position to get promoted and it didn’t happen.
“Ipswich Town is a club that is obviously close to my heart. I started there, I still look back at their results and still speak to a number of the people associated with the football club.
“They’re clearly not happy, and we’re talking about people at the football club that are some of the nicest people that you’ll meet.
“They’re not people who are argumentative, all they want to do is see what’s best for Ipswich Town and hopefully Ipswich get promoted.
“They feel like the core of the club’s been ripped out, whether that’s the owner or the manager – to be fair they’re not happy with both.
“The fact that we’re seeing flares, having to suspend training, people protesting – this is not something that is usually associated with Ipswich Town Football Club.
“There’s always been a nice relationship between the club and the supporters, and now it’s gone completely sour.
“I think in order for this situation to be resolved, something’s got to change, because this can’t continue.”

@Pandamonium1881: Unprofessional yes, but he has prob put up with dogs abuse and stands his ground (admittedly against the smallest bloke in the EFL probably) so fair play
@RoyalBlue1872: Players abuse refs week in, week out. One stands up for himself and all the players turn into Snowflakes
@dcooke1989: Fucking hell never seen a ref square up to a player in a league 1 game before
@ncfcatwembley: What the actual 😬 He’s in trouble! #itfc #ntfc
@JosephJones24: His heads gone
@theorlandoblue: Ref deserves a wage rise as far as I’m concerned
@ct_nicholls: I love to see that from the ref. Good on him.
@Jaffa113: Ref should of nutted the little cunt!
@RPremiership: Most passion I’ve seen at Portman road all season
@luke_lufc_wroe: Judge acts big man ref square’s up his arse falls out then acts big again when there a wall of players between em
@ildertonroader: Serves the player right. Came in looking for it and found it!
@MarcHouse99: Absolutely love this. Refs take so much crap, I’m really pleased to see this
@JordLPM: like a young Pierluigi Collina, give this referee a promotion and add this to the training program
@jbollington13: Love that me, players give it out enough. Hope he doesn’t get into shit
@connollyjon: He actually walked to the player to go head to head. These refs getting above themselves then play the victims
@BradAddyman: Chin the cunt ref
@Jinks_11: Get this man reffing in the premier league
@powellBFC93: Hahahaha what the fuck is going on here
@__DaveClarke: This is class. Hopefully telling him to shut his noise
@StrudwickM: “I didn’t call you baldy…. Baldy”
@Jackwoods2020: What the fuck 😂😂😂😂😂
@IandyHolliday: As much abuse refs get, as much as they often get physically intimidated by players, you can’t help but think #DarrenDrysdale might be in trouble for this
@AlexSmith3103: Good for him. In no other scenario would someone shout abuse into someone’s face and not expect some sort of reaction
@CGeorgeGamble: Darren Drysdale, my word
@TomMarsland: Ref wasn’t messing
@Liam_Seeley: Judge shit himself when the ref squares up to him
@ginger_budgie: Goes for the square go and remembers, I’m the ref, and I can just book this cunt
@IrishBrian24: Absolutely love a mental ref
@jamieingram20: If the @EFL think this had nothing to do with him giving us a red 2 minutes later then they should all go have an orgy with lambert down the job centre #itfc
@BrodieCole1: another one who got bullied at school and has never played football
@Brownbridge: Go on Ref lad. Fucking tell him.
@MozzaNUFC: Good on the fucker. Not enough respect shown to officials in football. Players do shit like that to them every week
