VIDEO: Preston fans get punched by police officers after win at Wigan

Preston fans get punched by police officers after their win at Wigan and it was captured on camera by supporters leaving the ground.

A Twitter user called ‘Warrington NORTH END’ uploaded the clip onto the social media site, where one fan could be seen taking a fist to the face.

@eddieswindells_ stated: “There where a few Wigan fans being pushed away by police then a Preston fan tried to run past the police and then it kicked off.”

Two fans could be seen on the ground beside a metal fence, however social media user @RichardR_92 said two riot vans turned up, two officers threw punches at one person. There apparently was no arrests. A baton was also used by police.

Other nasty scenes around the DW Stadium saw a Wigan fan chuck a flare off the bridge into a group of Preston fans including children, according to @jakenick975, who also thought the police messed up by not holding back the away supporters for 10 minutes.

The ever vocal @PNEPolice are expected to respond to fans their thoughts about what ended up happening after the game on Saturday afternoon.

After watching the clip, FSA Faircop said: “Reasonable force can be used if justified.”

A statement about what happened after the Championship clash will be added if issued in the coming hours.
