A Portsmouth fan has been arrested after a flare was thrown onto Sunderland during yesterday’s League One clash at the Stadium of Light.
The game was halted on the 28th minute following Jamal Lowe cancelling out Tom Flanagan’s opener in front of the 41,129 crowd.
After the flare was thrown, police dealt with the incident by entering the area with many Sunderland fans giving a few gesture towards the travelling support above them.

It’s been confirmed that Northumbria Police have made an arrest following the incident.
A tweet read: “A flare has been discharged within the away section of the Stadium of Light.
“The offender has been identified, located and swiftly arrested by officers from Northumbria police.
“Behaviour like this will not be tolerated within stadiums.”
This is the second incident to have taken place at the ground in recent weeks after missiles were thrown from visiting Coventry City fans onto the home support beneath them.
Black Cats chairman Stewart Donald is said to be ‘mortified by the events and promised better protection in future for supporters. Coventry vowed to ban those identified.
