VIDEO: Manager Paul Doswell hits back at Havant & Waterlooville fans at Oxford City

Manager Paul Doswell hits back at Havant & Waterlooville fans after his side’s defeat at Oxford City on Saturday afternoon.

Oxford City staged a stunning late comeback, scoring three times in the last 10 minutes, and boy was the travelling supporters unhappy come the final whistle.

Billy Clifford broke the deadlock in the first half to put havant ahead, however that was cancelled out with Joe Iaciofano, George Harmon and Josh Ashby all scoring, the 84th minute, 87th and 91st.

A video of his rant at the fans after the final whistle has gone on to get over 25,000 views within 24 hours, take a look at it below…

It starts off with some spectators telling a fan to shut up and let that manager speak, so off Paul begins to try and explain the struggles his side after facing.

He brings up how the coronavirus and injuries have played havoc with their squad, before ending it by saying “i’m not a magician” and walks off, leaving supporters even more frustrated that they can vent their views.

In 2019–20, the new look Hawks challenged at the top of the division until the season was curtailed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At first it appeared as though the league would only promote the leading club, given the extraordinary circumstances. As Havant stood second in the division they, along with the similarly placed York City of the National League North, started the #promote2 campaign[ for playoffs to take place or the second place club to be promoted. Eventually playoffs did take place but Havant lost 2–1 to Dartford in their home semi-final.

For 2020-21, the National League South was declared null and void on the 18th of February 2021. As a result, all records were expunged and no teams were promoted or relegated. Havant were 9th with 20 points from 14 games played, sides above them had already played as much a five games more than them.

For 2021-22, they currently sit 11th, picking up 30 points from 22 games and are five points from the playoffs.

Twitter users reacted as manager Paul Doswell hits back at Havant & Waterlooville fans after the loss at Oxford City…

@NLSTube: Fair play to Doswell IMO – he has a right to back himself tbh.

@stevensallis: Just invite these fans in to take a session at training. Can you imagine!

@LaurenceCombyne: whatever you think of Dos, he has passion for the game, and never shies away from a challenge.

@mattlawrence734: No manager no matter how frustrated should act that way its the fans club and we are only ever passing through count you’re lucky stars and be humble always

@PauliHale69: A bit of straight talking for once

@BenBasilBrown: Appreciate his frustration but this doesnt look good. Away fans are diehards. Never turn on them.

@nick_hopkinson: Good see he’s moved on from telling 8 year old kids to fuck off

@_utdbrad: Anyone else not see what he did wrong here? He was only explaining himself to the fans he never said anything bad

@NoahCur95173788: Fans deserve better they travel all over the country to watch excuses they need a freshing up he’s tried to get him up and he can’t get him out

@ferrarif50lover: Quick reminder that these jokers are the reason we’re not in the FA Cup anymore. I love Gary Johnson, but his record in cup competitions with us is fucking terrible.

@jamesgraham_13: What the fuckkkkkkk

@phillhoare1: Get rid his style is shit get someone in that wants to use the local talent

@JSweetman92: Bloke is stealing a living

@ltfckieren: ‘I’m not a magician’ is actually a great point. Yes managers have tactics but people often forget it’s the players that actually have to perform as well

@rachel6584: This man never fails to amuse me 🤣🤣🤣

@toptargets: Not keen on managers having these chats with fans after defeats & not a great idea when you haven’t won a game since December. People will say its brave, open, honest bla bla but for me its stupid, bad decision making and smacks of desperation. Should be top 6 with the budget.

@BenThorntonn: Tell ya what. Fair play DOS. Not many gaffers would react like this.

@clowsley93: Rate this a lot! 👊🏻Seeing a lot crap in football lately, football is a process trust it and get behind the management and team, yes it’s frustrating it’s non league support when we’re on a run support when we are not 🙏🏼 your our 12th man remember that 👊🏻🙌🏻

@stucrow: Think this is fair enough from him personally

@JamieDrew03: Dos threatened to walk, turning very bitter at Havant at the moment
