Jose Mourinho backs surprise teams to battle for a Champions League spot this season in what will be a thrilling end for those European places.
As things stand, Wolves and Sheffield United are looking like great contenders for a spot in the top four, and Mourinho has stated those clubs are absolutely battling for a Champions League place.
“Wolves and Sheffield United are fighting for the [Premier League] top four, [the managers] can say no, I understand if they say no, but the reality is that they are. Not just because of the position that they are in the table, it is because of the power and quality,” Mourinho told Sky Sports News.
“They arrive in this situation wherein the eyes of everybody [else], they should be more than happy – they are not more than happy.
“Wolves bought an important player to try and improve their situation.
“Sheffield United bought an important player and beat their record in the market to try to improve their team.
“It’s not just about Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton. It’s not just about us.
“These two clubs I have to say… fantastic.”
The unbelievable work of Chris Wilder has seen the newly-promoted Blades sit fifth just two points off Chelsea in fourth, while Wolves are in ninth on 35 points – despite having had to contend with a extra fixtures in the Europa League with a smaller squad than say those of the ‘big six’, yet you don’t get any complaints from manager Nuno Espirito Santo about the fixture congestion compared to forever moaning Pep Guardiola.

A manager says the only sensible thing anyone has said about us all season and all people can comment on is his haircut. Who says football fans don’t know what they are on about?
