An investigation has been launched by Everton after there were claims that an object was thrown at Chelsea’s Ross Barkley over the weekend.
The Football Association are also looking at allegations a coin was thrown at the player who was making his first appearance at Goodison since he left them for Chelsea in January 2018.
Barkley received boos as he came out of the tunnel as well as throughout the game before he was substituted after 65 minutes.
Fellow teammate Eden Hazard jokingly joined in heckling him as he made way towards the pitch behind Barkley.

Everton won 2-0 thanks to goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson, after which Barkley was taunted by fans chanting “Barkley, Barkley, what’s the score?”.
A statement from Everton read: “We are investigating the alleged incident and reviewing footage.
“If anyone is found responsible for this or other such incidents, the club will take robust action.”
The alleged incident came two days after the Football Association, Premier League and English Football League put out a statement which said “all supporters to carefully consider their behaviour” at the weekend’s games and “all games in the future”.
