Bromley boss Andy Woodman issues stern words about ‘disrespectful’ Grimsby Town with footage emerging of his post-match interview.
Bromley boosted their National League promotion hopes with a 2-1 comeback win at Blundell Park as Jude Arthurs produced the winner seven minutes from time.
Arthurs appeared to get the final touch on a corner which has been whipped into a busy Grimsby box by Luke Coulson.
Bromley had gone behind after 23 minutes when Ryan Taylor flicked on and Jordan Maguire-Drew hit home on the volley for his third goal in four games from the edge of the box.
But George Alexander levelled six minutes before the break, scoring from close range to get on the goalsheet for the second successive match.
After the game the Bromley boss made it clear what he thought of the Mariners, have a watch of the 39 second clip below…
“Yes, 100%. I don’t like them.
“They [Grimsby] have been completely disrespectful to us.”

Interview: “Is it fair to say there is no love lost between you and Grimsby after a few comments that were made in the last game?”
AW: “Yes 100%, I don’t like them, I don’t like the comments they said about my team, I don’t like the comments they made about when we won at our place, so I’m not going to sit here and candyfloss it.”
“I think they have been completely disrespectful to us. I think, you know I’ll say it as it is, I think you have got to give more respect to professional football and that’s what it boils down to. I didn’t really have to do a team talk, it was all done for me to be honest.”
“We Had The Chances”
Paul Hurst speaks to the media following our defeat to Bromley #GTFC

Meanwhile, Grimsby boss Paul Hurst told the media: “It’s a bad result which hurts, it’s not what we wanted,”
“We’re disappointed with how the game has played out. We had chances to score more than one goal, we didn’t take them.
“It wasn’t one-way but when we had our good spell, we were well on top of the game. We didn’t put it to bed. We let it slip away after starting very well.
“It’s a mistake (from us) for the equaliser, he’s onside. We didn’t squeeze up, we played him on. We didn’t take the chances, we concede an own goal.
“It was a good delivery but we have to deal with it and we didn’t. From our point of view, they were two poor goals to give away, which cost us. We have to make more of our opportunities.”
So what was happened last time?
In September 2021, Bromley won a rearranged game 3-1 at home to Grimsby, who went down to ten-man and had their unbeaten start to the season come to an end.
After taking the lead through John McAteeās clever free-kick prior half time, the second half saw three goals for the hosts in the driving rain thanks to Michael Cheek, James Alabi and Corey Whitely sentencing the Mariners to their first loss, Michee Efete seeing red to compound their misery.
The ending got a bit heated with Grimsby Town fans are rushing over to one side of their stand to have a go at the Bromley coaching staff.
Luke Waterfall had to be pulled away by Lenell John-Lewis as he has a heated argument with a few of the Bromley staff.
Paul Hurst said back then: “Weāre obviously disappointed for the run to end, but itās inevitable that it will at some time, although you want to extend it for as long as possible.”
“Obviously weāre disappointed, weāve got a long journey home to stew on it, and then we go again on Saturday, which is the most important thing.
“Again, itās learning for the group, a couple of things have happened during the evening, and itās now about how we react given itās the first time weāve suffered defeat this season.”
Paul Hurst hit back at suggestions from Bromley’s Andy Woodman that Grimsby Town wanted to get their opening game of the season postponed.
āThey could have played us first game of the season and they opted not to because they had some Covid problems, apparently,ā Woodman said.
As the Bromley boss Andy Woodman issues stern words about ‘disrespectful’ Grimsby, fans took to give their thoughts…

@steveculton: I really don’t get him. He had a dig at us at their place cos we had to postpone the 1st game because of covid. And then we played them and all their players celebrated in front of our fans instead of there own! Did the same today! Must be something in the water down there
@Jackcoupland29: Weāre Disrespectful? There players at both games have had no interest celebrating with their own fans but gone straight to Grimsbys to antagonise
@achandler2409: Let your football do the talking. Everything else is invalid.
@bass_loser:
You’re right.
Six points for Bromley.
@jimmyson82: Fairplay Andy Woodman. They are shithouses, Iām glad youāve shown them a footballing lesson
@Becur24: he is still bitter about the play off final in 98!
@Ryan_Rosee: Love that Andy
@jamesdodd1993: Part of this is a wind up for sure but there’s a lot of truth to this, not just Grimsby as well. We get called every name under the sun by so called “bigger teams”, and every excuse under the sun comes out when we beat them. Rinse and repeat #WeAreBromley
@jonnybgoode82: Nailed it. #GTFC, especially the dwindling fan base, never learn. Just look at social media each week. Team talk done. #DTM #FOOT
