VIDEO: Blackpool and Derby fans unite in singing X-rated chant

Blackpool and Derby County fans unite in singing X-rated chant at the EFL during the two side’s Championship clash on Saturday.

21,663 packed out Pride Park for the game that had fan ownership on people’s minds with the two clubs at one point in recent years having owners that once ruined them.

The Seasiders fans had wanting other fans not to mock Derby over their current plight, this is because the Rams faifthful once joined in with a chant of “Oyston Out” a few seasons back.

So on Saturday afternoon, both clubs’ fans joined together to sing “Fuck the EFL”, take a look and put the sound on below…

The game itself saw teenager Luke Plange find the net on his first senior start for Derby as Wayne Rooney’s side beat Blackpool 1-0.

The 19-year-old striker tapped in after Chris Maxwell had pushed Kamil Jozwiak’s effort onto the post following some good play by Max Bird and Tom Lawrence.

The away side had looked the livelier side in the opening half with Shayne Lavery keeping the Derby defenders busy, however he headed their best opportunity straight at shot-stopper Ryan Allsop.

But having failed to score in their previous three games, Blackpool drew another blank as their winless run stretched to seven games.

It was the first league meeting between the two sides since April 2015, with Derby winning seven of the previously eight meets.

The win is made even more impressive for boss Wayne Rooney who was without a number of players as they were self-isolating.

His youthful bench included two 20-year-olds, three 19-year-olds and 17-year-old keeper Alfie Roberts, alongside the more venerable Richard Stearman.

With Derby 20 points from safety at the start of the game, Rooney wanted more men going forward following the break and their positive endeavour was rewarded with Plange’s goal.

After that, the defence were able to hit back at Blackpool as the visitors tried their hardest to rescue the situation, despite seven minutes of added time, as Derby secured their fifth win of the season to move to four points after having 21 deducted by the EFL – and 17 points behind at the foot of the table.

Blackpool’s third successive defeat saw them drop two places to 17th, though luckily for them, they are still eight points clear of the relegation places, they need to start picking up their form soon however.

Derby manager Wayne Rooney told BBC Radio Derby: “It’s nice to win obviously, but the preparation for this game was incredibly difficult, with Covid outbreaks as late as this morning.

“I think the [Under] 23s will probably have to cancel their fixtures over the next couple of weeks because the lads will stay with me now for the game next week.

“Luke Plange was going to start before the outbreak. I felt when he came on last week, he did well and was really positive.

“He gives us good energy, he’s a handful for defenders to deal with, makes good runs in behind and he scored a great goal. I’m delighted for him.”

Neil Critchley believes his side mustn’t get too down with their recent run of form, as Blackpool slipped to defeat at Derby County on Saturday.

“Things are going against us at the moment,” he said.

“I think the scoreline reflects how the game panned out and there was very little between the two teams. I felt in the first half we played some good football and had control of the game, but in the second half it was very stop-start and scrappy and there were lots of stoppages throughout and we couldn’t build the momentum we needed. When we had fleeting opportunities to create something, we failed, and that’s something we need to improve upon.”

Reflecting on the decisive goal, Critchley felt that summed up how things are currently going against his side.

“When you create that one chance, you’re hoping the ball will either fall for one of our players when it hits the post, but it falls to one of their players and the lad taps it in. It’s not quite going for us at the other end of the pitch at the moment, and our decision making is letting us down.

“We need to stick together. We have to remember there’s nothing in this division. You can win a couple of matches and you’ll quickly rise up the table. The mood in this division can change very quickly. We’re disappointed and hurt given our recent run of results, but we can’t get too down about it.

“We have to go again as a team, and only we can change the moment we are in. Only we can change that, and we will be back in on Monday and continue to work hard to turn it around.”
