Viewers were left feeling rather awkward last night as they watched Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville walk away from presenter Kelly Cates as they answer her question.
The bizarre moment saw her Cates – Kenny Dalglish’s daughter – asked about Southampton’s form following their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool before the pundits then oddly began to walk away leaving her statuesque.
She asked: “How significant was that last win?”
Kelly nods, then looks rather lost. Puzzled.
As soon as Neville opens his mouth, both him and Carra walk away, Gary said: “It was a huge win, I mean, do you think they’re now safe, five points off relegation. With a game in hand and in good form as well?
Carra said: “Yes I mean 9 points out of the 12 in this late stage…”
As the video comes to an end, Kelly is still just stood, as if waiting for them to return to her. Literally a “hello darkness my old friend” moment right there.

Of course, it looks like they were trying to do a creative transition or got told to move along in their earpiece, but as one Twitter used, “the fact they didn’t pan Kelly out of the shot just makes it look weird and awkward.”
Kelly Cates has however come out on social media and said: “They were going to interview Hasenhuttl in the tunnel! Would have looked weird if they didn’t have anything to say I the way there.”
