It was another busy day of English Football League action, and there has been another two teams having the dreaded ‘R’ placed next to their name in the league tables.
The first to do so was Bradford City in League One, they lost 2-0 at playoff chasing Coventry City but Rochdale’s win over Wycombe and Scunthorpe’s goalless draw with Blackpool confirmed that the Bantams are 10 points from safety with just nine points left to play for.
They will be playing League Two football next season for the first time since the 2012/13 season.
Another team going down today was Bolton Wanderers from the Championship following 2-0 home defeat by Aston Villa.
Goals from Jack Grealish and Tammy Abraham in the second half helped Villa get a record-equalling ninth straight win and edge closer to claiming a playoff place.
The Trotters end their two year stay in the second level of English football and are heading back to League One again since 2017.
The result also meant that they set a new club record of 27 league defeats in a season.
Following the confirmation of Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City’s relegations from their leagues this afternoon, fans took to social media to give their reaction, most angry, others mocked – check out what was said on the next page.
