Two Man Utd players had to be ‘pulled apart in what ended up being a shocking training ground bust-up’ according to reports.
The Red Devils’ awful end to the 2021/22 campaign reached a new low with two senior players having a full-on scrap at Carrington, coming towards the end of the session, which had felt ‘rather flat’ on Thursday.
Various sources have kept fans in the dark as to who was that duo, but they had to be separated by Ralf Rangnick, bringing the session to an early end.
All the squad members were ordered back to the changing rooms and left ‘stunned’ by the altercation.
A fed up Ralf Rangnick had given his players four days off following their 4-0 defeat at Brighton last Saturday.
The team were granted more time off with no game to play this weekend, with scheduling and the pandemic meaning that their next game will be their last of the season with the final Premier League fixture at Crystal Palace a week on Sunday.
Manchester United could finish seventh and qualify for the Europa Conference League, but of course, they had hopes to finish higher.
They currently sit 6th with 58 points and played one game more than everyone else. West Ham are 8th with 55 points.
There is a huge plan to overhaul the team, which will be overseen by new chief executive Richard Arnold.
Football director John Murtough is handling the rebuild and met up with incoming boss Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam on Thursday, the same day as the training ground bust up, for talks about who and what is needed to make next season a success.
Two midfielders, plus a striker and a centre-half is the main priority but the club only has a transfer budget of around £100million.
Ten Hag desperately wants to bring in midfielder Frenkie de Jong but Man Utd admit it will be tough to tempt the playmaker away from Barcelona as the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and neighbours Manchester City also plan to go in for him.
Those mentioned can all offer Champions League football and the chance of winning Europe’s biggest prize, something United can’t.
Ten Hag has also informed United’s scouts to look out for the best free agents this summer, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Paulo Dybala potential options.

@Jason_Kavanagh: Left it a bit late to show a bit of aggression
@Abdoul_mufc: None of them has any fighting spirit in them
@SeyiBillions: Who has Lingard’s number let’s ask him.
@shaunbarcoe: I’d love for it to have happened as it probably showed a bit of heart, likelihood is, it was much a do about nothing, just shame it’s a fight at the end of the season on a training pitch and not actually in a match over the last 5-8 weeks where they rolled over 🤬
@syedsahilzaidi: Well at least the bastards are fighting for something
@AidanEagle3: I wonder who was the player that alerted the media about the fight in the training ground? Erik Ten Hag has to put a stop to the leaks at the club because this season has been a disgrace. #MUFC
@Lostie07: Ronny finally chinned bag of wank Maguire? Can’t say I blame him. Imagine you are CR7 and had to put up with Maguire as your captain the whole season giving it the big un when he has more relegations than trophies. Everyone has a breaking point.
@CMe0ki: Who won the scrap tho
@napper_abbie: Maguire and Ronaldo over the armband
@saboteurDS: Ronaldo won too much in his career to go physical against anybody in that shit locker room. He’s too intelligent to stoop that low
@Magee3Shea: Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse. Why am I not surprised.
@tarumsamra: The fact they let them scrap it out is class
@mickbreen1: Name and shame!!
@UtdAmin003: Definitely a British player involved or else they would’ve spilled the beans by now
@Mohamed_therad: We should be a reality TV show not a football club
@danmufc11: Let the idiots knock some sense into each other
@MLAnthonyy: The squad morale in this squad is disgraceful 😭 hopefully Maguire got knocked out
@EadieRichard: Name them, before Ralf does 😂😂
@NathanBooth16: Name and shame the players having a scrap at carrington immediately I hope to fucking god it was cavani on maguire absolutely nutted the Martian
@RounakThadani: Our club is really a shambles 😭😭😭
@__Manveer: LOOK WHAT RALF IS DOING TO THIS DRESSING ROOM MAN
@AidanEagle3: Instead of fighting against the opposition during the match. We are acutally fighting ourselves in the training ground. This club has become a international joke because of these mercenaries #MUFC
@Anshum1958: Players fighting on the training ground? If only they fought on the pitch for a win.
@UtdDanish: loooool we are a joke 😭
Disarray at Carrington, with standard of training sessions leaving many deeply unimpressed. Ewan Sharp viewed not up to level.
Unruly, underperforming squad, but Ralf Rangnick is overseeing disastrous reign.
