Two additional FA Cup Third Round ties are moved for TV broadcast to the surprise of many with two non league clubs finally chosen.
AFC Bournemouth’s game away at Yeovil Town will now kick off at 5:45pm and will be broadcast live on the BBC Red Button.
The Cherries, currently 2nd in the Championship, will make the visit to Huish Park on Saturday the 8th of January 2022.
It will be the first meeting between the sides since April 2014, when Ryan Fraser’s goal cancelled out Kieffer Moore’s opener in the second tier.
Yeovil, managed by Darren Sarll, sit in 9th position in the National League and have won three fixtures to reach this stage of the competition.
Tickets for this fixture will go on general sale on the 29th December. Those who have already purchased tickets which say the kick-off time is 5:30pm remain valid.
Also picked is Chesterfield’s away game at Chelsea, with a kick off time at 5:30pm on Saturday the 8th of January 2022.
That is according to the Football Association’s website that has the game down for being shown live on the BBC Red Button.
The last time these two clubs played each other was a 3-0 win to Chelsea also in the FA Cup, back on the 15th of February 1950.
Nearly 60,000 watched Roy Bentley score twice with Hugh Billington also getting on the scoresheet.
On the 20th of December, it was confirmed that replays have been removed in both the third and fourth rounds of the 2021-22 FA Cup.
This exceptional decision was approved by the FA Board on Friday 17 December and has been taken in the wider interest of English football to alleviate the possibility of fixture congestion following several postponements in recent days and continued uncertainty ahead due to COVID-19.
Ties in the third and fourth rounds of this season’s competition will be played to a finish on the day, with extra-time and penalty shootouts if required.
Replays will return up to and including the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup from the 2022-23 season onwards.
