Trevor Sinclair demands Man Utd are deducted points for making 10 changes against Leicester, who won the game to hand Man City the title.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been labelled ‘disrespectful’ for his team selection, with the result causing quite a change in the battle to finish in the top four of the Premier League table.
With two matches in 48 hours, Solskjaer insisted he needed to heavily rotate his team and he made 10 alterations against Leicester from the side that beat Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
United however lost 2-1 with the likes of Amad Diallo, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams in the line-up and victory for Leicester has seen them take control as they eye up qualification for the Champions League – to the annoyance of West Ham and Liverpool.
š ā#MUFC made 10 changes. This is their B team. I think thatās disrespectful.ā
š” āI think there needs to be a punishment. 3 points isnāt enough. A 6 point deduction should be given.ā

‘Without being disrespectful to the players that played tonight, they made ten changes, this is their ‘B’ team,’ Sinclair told talkSPORT.
‘I think that’s disrespectful and it takes away from the top four race.
‘The teams that are going to suffer from Man United’s lack of due diligence, the ones who could miss out on the top four, are Chelsea possibly, Liverpool, West Ham and Tottenham.
‘I think there needs to be a punishment for Man United. Three points isn’t enough because that doesn’t affect anything.
‘I honestly feel the way they put out this team, the way they didn’t safeguard their stadium, I think a six-point deduction should be given to Manchester United.’
A win for Leicester, sealed with a second-half header from Caglar Soyuncu, putting them up to third in the Premier League table, sat on 66 points.
United take on Liverpool on Thursday in the rearranged match of the game that was cancelled when fans broke into Old Trafford earlier this month.
Solskjaer admits the defeat to Brendan Rodgers’ side, who were hammered recently by Newcastle, was a sign United must strengthen their squad to have any hope of dethroning Man City.
‘If you want to take up the challenge with them we need to strengthen our squad,’ said the United boss.
‘Congratulations to them. They’ve had a fantastic season but I’m very pleased with my boys that we have made it to the last 10 days with a City side ahead of us that are lauded as the best in Europe.
‘We want to take the next step and it might be that we need a couple more to strengthen the squad.’
When quizzed on his 10 changes, he added: ‘It can’t be like this again. It’s impossible and that’s the reason we made the changes.
‘It’s unheard of. It is impossible for the players to perform at this level going Thursday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday.’

āItās an extremely important win for us,ā said Rodgers in his post-match press conference. āItās huge. Weāre at 66 points now, which is what two of the sides that finished in there last season got.
āItās a big step but there are still two games to go and the teams are still chasing us, so we still have work to do.ā
Rodgers was also a little disappointed at his sideās performance, particularly in the first half, against a United side much-changed amid their hectic schedule.
āWe scored a brilliant goal, it was great technique, which got us off to a good start,ā he said.
āWe then played too slow and the speed of our game was poor. We were not precise enough, and when you are like that against a top side, they can hurt you. Any problems came from us losing possession.
āWe got through to half-time, reinforced our pressing minds, gave more speed to our game, that allowed us to sustain the attacks much better. It was a great header by Cags.ā
Fans reacted as Trevor Sinclair demands that points are deducted from Man Utd for making 10 changes against Leicester…
@Dannyke04883973: Not a United fan at all but theyāve got 3 games in the next week. If one of the main starters at United got injured heād be absolutely slaughtered for doing so. Heās already lost maguire. With a Europa league final in 3 weeks
@Vintage_Utd: Surely itās a mental illness at this point, thereās no other explanation
@Vintage_Utd: Trevor Sinclair wants Man Utd to have a 6 point deduction because weāre picking players from our own squad who donāt play often
@GednySteve: I wonder how much longer the bosses are going to employ pundits like @trevor8sinclair and @Mrjamieohara1 it really is embarrassing so if the rubbish they constantly come out with.
@UtdJackkkk: Letās just get rid of the whole point of registering Premier League squads in that case. Letās just register 11 players & every team has to play those 11 players every week instead.
@MancUn1ted: Oh my god @talkSPORT Iāve honestly listened to this station 15 years plus. Iāve never heard so much shit that Trevor Sinclair talking Iāve had to turn it off – first time ever
@markgoldbridge: Trevor Sinclair talking about United getting a punishment for fielding a weakened team and that 3 points deduction wouldn’t be punishment enough lol!!! The irony
@LateNightReds: How dare #MUFC select 11 players from their squad that are registered to play in the Premier League. What planet is Trevor Sinclair living on?
@J4CK_97: Howās Trevor Sinclair even got a job? Heās clueless, remember City made 9 changes the other day
@AndyMufcTally: Liverpool fans and Trevor sinclair crying because we had play a weakened team!!! Saying we are match fixing!!! Fuck off you bunch of idiots its not physically possible play strong team with the schedule we had!!! Should actually look at it logically ffs
@MaxGarfield2003: If he started the likes of Rashford and Shaw and they got injured and missed the Euros, you would complain that he didn’t rotate them enough. It’s a lose-lose situation
@michaelkersley: Should City be docked points for their āweakenedā side during their loss to Chelsea last weekend? Such a poor argument. Football is a squad game. If we didnāt have four games in seven days maybe he would have played a stronger side. Point your anger at the Premier League, Trevor.
@BrendanMullane9: If I hear anymore from Trevor Sinclair I think I may just bash my head against a brick wall. I’m a Liverpool fan and believe me united have every right to field any team they like. It’s not because of them that we are probably going to miss top 4,its been our dire form since xmas
@adamdavidwatson: Any team who has to rely on anyone else after 35 games to gain CL qualification or improve their own league position, has only themselves to look at no one else – we were entitled to shuffle pack – move on.
@JoeConnor2002: āTeams that are going to miss out on top 4ā, maybe Liverpool and Spurs shouldnāt have been shit this season and maybe they wouldāve got top 4, forgot teams arenāt allowed to rotate their team š¤¦āāļø
@thegaffer1969: Great entertainment. I’m pissing myself which is a subject you might actually know something about @trevor8sinclair
@RAMutd17: Trev, explain to me why itās acceptable for city to have 40 players per position but united who play 4 in 7 arnt allowed to rotate?
@Michaelj2207: 4 games in 7 days and they are using their full 23 man squad.. what the issue?
@Lcfc_1884: Pep pretty much hasnāt played the same side for two games in a row all season yet nobody bats an eyelid. Why? Because he has a squad of 25 players he can chose from. Itās his prerogative what team he chooses.
@Nhall992: Personally I think calling them the “B team” is disrespectful. They are senior players for the club which have been rotated due to fixture congestion. Points deducted for using different players? Absolutely clueless. This is one for the numpty of the week @talkSPORT @TSBreakfast
@JoshYates_: 4 games in a week. 4! Top 4 is secured and City weāre always winning the title. We have players to protect against injuries. Anyone who says that we cant make changes and start players who a registered to play in the @premierleague needs to give their head a wobble. Morons. #MUFC
@RakUTD: Another normal day on talkSHIT
@MG11szn: Whats the punishment reason gonna be? The prem gonna say āwe dont think the players you fielded were good enough to play in this gameā
@OLeathem04: Oh Trevor go on and fuck off
@A_R_93: Hahahaha Trevor fucking Sinclair. A bellend.
@domavery95: Not today Trevor you boring cunt
@hughsie_10: What a fucking hypocrite Sinclair is! Saying City are allowed to make 9 changes, but #MUFC should be docked points for making 10! Fucking cheek of it, wheres the logic?
@MatthewSparkes: Why not just give liverpool the title? Every other teams made subs/rotation this season
@mufc_JNathanJ: Typical @talkSPORT crap this is, thereās something wrong with people who listen to that shit. Toxic af and they just love talking to wetwipes just to make themselves relevant.
@RyanC_11: Why on earth do they employ this clown
