• Athletic journalist Phil Hay has said that Leeds United “are aware they need another midfielder” but unless anything dramatic changes today, “a further addition is not expected.”
• Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy reportedly opted against a move to Liverpool last summer to stay on the South Coast for the 2019/20 campaign. According to The Athletic, Liverpool sounded out the possible signing of McCarthy in the summer of 2019 but the shot-stopper decided that he wanted to stay at Southampton and be a number one in the Premier League.
• According to the Watford Observer, Crystal Palace retain an interest in signing 22 year old Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr. A report states that the Eagles made contact with the forward’s representatives as early as August, while they also tried to sign the Senegal international before he moved to Vicarage Road.
• Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori says he turned down a move to West Ham on deadline day for the good of his career. Earlier this month, the Hammers had reportedly agreed a season-long loan deal to take him in, with interest also coming from Rennes and Everton. However, Tomori rejected the move to a fellow London club because he wants to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.
• Burnley boss Sean Dyche says he wants to sign new players but admits it is unlikely someone will arrive on deadline day. (Various)
• Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Galatasaray defender Marcao with the £27m-rated Brazilian currently unhappy in Turkey. (Sabah via HITC)
• Newcastle United were aware of growing interest in winger Allan Saint-Maximin, leaving them keen to accelerate talks on a new contract, according to The Athletic. Paris Saint-Germain, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur made checks on Saint-Maximin and intermediaries on behalf of German, Italian and Spanish sides also made enquiries.
• Chelsea will look at selling N’Golo Kante so they can make a move for Declan Rice at West Ham (Daily Star)
• Newcastle United appear to be working to find a way to offload Rolando Aarons before Friday’s deadline passes, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Magpies have held talks with Huddersfield Town over a potential move.
• Borussia Dortmund are not prepared to sell 20-year-old England winger Jadon Sancho, who was linked with Manchester United during the summer, in the January transfer window. (Sport Bild, via Mail)
• Arsenal want to beat Manchester United to the £35m signing of 23-year-old Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres in January. (Express)
• Vladimir Ivic’s side have ‘considered’ QPR’s Ryan Manning and Cardiff City’s Joe Bennett, as well as Chelsea’s Baba Rahman. Will depend on if Watford can offload one or two of their players.
• Huddersfield’s Terence Kongolo has turned down the chance to play Europa League football at AZ Alkmaar in favour of a return to Fulham, according to Algemeen Dagblad.
• Nottingham Forest are still keen on sealing a deal with West Brom for winger Kamil Grosicki, as per the Telegraph’s John Percy.
• Bournemouth are plotting a last-minute loan move for Aston Villa defender Frederic Guilbert, according to Football Insider.
• Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has conceded that star defender Joe Rodon could well join Spurs before the transfer deadline, but insisted that he won’t be sold on the cheap. Tottenham want to pay around £10 million for Welsh centre-back Joe Rodon, with Swansea City wanting around £15 million. If a fee is agreed, personal terms would be a formality. (Wales Online)
• Reading boss Veljko Paunovic has quashed talk of an exit for star man Michael Olise before Friday’s deadline. Olise, who has been in hugely impressive form this season, has been linked with a move away from the club, with Leeds United, Arsenal and Wolves said to be keen. However, Paunovic dismissed the rumour and insisted he had not heard anything about it.
• The Telegraph has claimed that Crystal Palace are set to make a late move to sign Stoke City and former England goalkeeper Jack Butland before Friday’s 5pm deadline, with Butland having entered the final 12 months of his contract at Stoke.

• Nottingham Forest are confident of agreeing a loan deal for Fulham winger Anthony Knockaert before today’s transfer deadline.
• Leeds defender Barry Douglas is undergoing a medical at Blackburn Rovers.
• Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil turned down the chance to leave and move to a club in Saudi Arabia earlier this month. (Sky Italia)
• According to West London Sport, Sheffield Wednesday are the frontrunners in the race to sign Chelsea’s Jake Clarke-Salter on loan ahead of Huddersfield Town.
• Manchester City and Wales midfielder Matt Smith is set to join Doncaster Rovers on loan.
• Brentford’s Said Benrahma underwent the first part of West Ham medical on Thursday, the second part is scheduled for Friday morning.
• Barnsley have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane on loan.
• Middlesborough are attempting to complete a deal to sign Yannick Bolasie on loan from Everton. The 31-year-old winger almost joined Boro two years ago but decided to move to then-Championship rivals Aston Villa instead. Talks have already taken place and it is understood Bolasie is keen on a move to the Riverside. Everton would need to subsidise a large chunk of Bolasie’s wages for the deal to happen.
• Harry Wilson is set to move to Cardiff City on loan from Liverpool before today’s domestic transfer deadline. Swansea and Bristol City are ready to rival them for his signature.
