• Arsenal defender William Saliba could join a Championship club on loan in the coming weeks
• West Ham will need to come up with a bid of around £4m to sign Watford defender Craig Dawson in the domestic window.
• Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are interested in Swansea City’s Wales centre-back Joe Rodon and could bid £18m for the 22-year-old before the English Football League transfer deadline on 16 October. (Wales Online)
• Manchester United had a season-long loan bid rejected by Watford for Senegal winger Ismaila Sarr, 22, but could try again this month, although the Hornets want a permanent transfer. (Manchester Evening News)
• Watford and Middlesbrough want Chelsea and Ghana left-back Baba Rahman, 26, on a season-long loan. (Goal)
• Middlesbrough, QPR and Cardiff City are monitoring Barnsley’s English central midfielder Alex Mowatt, 25, and could make a move before the EFL transfer deadline. (Football League World)
• West Brom will turn their attentions to Watford’s Troy Deeney and Andre Gray if they can’t sign number one target Karlan Grant, currently of Huddersfield.
• The Mirror have claimed that Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion have stepped up their interest in AFC Bournemouth striker Josh King with Premier League clubs still able to do business with EFL sides until October 16.
• The Standard report that West Ham are plotting a move for Said Benrahma. Porto are pursuing Felipe Anderson for a loan deal, with the Portuguese window open for a few weeks yet. That means the Hammers have been looking into alternatives for the winger, including Benrahma.
• Reports from Germany claim that Derby County saw three separate bids rejected for SV Darmstadt striker Serdar Dursun. Nottingham Forest were also believed to be keen on the towering forward. (Nottingham Post)
• West Brom striker Charlie Austin is said to be uninterested in the advances of Derby County, and will instead look to remain with the Baggies and fight for a starting spot in Slaven Bilic’s side. (Express & Star)
• Millwall are said to be among the front-runners to sign Liverpool striker Liam Millar. The Reds academy product looks likely to leave the club this summer, after failing to break into the first team. (Goal)
• Middlesbrough and Derby’s hopes of bringing in Leicester City defender Filip Benkovic on loan look to have improved, with the Foxes now said to be ready to let the Croatia international leave on a temporary basis. (The 72)
• Sheffield Wednesday could be closer to signing West Brom’s Kenneth Zohore. An injury to West Brom’s Hal Robson-Kanu could speed up the Baggies’ swoop for Huddersfield Town’s Karlan Grant, which would in turn free up Zohore to move on. (The 72)
• Charlton Athletic have confirmed on Twitter that Sunderland target Ali Koiki’s trial will continue, with the defender featuring in an Under-23s game against Millwall.
• Norwich City are expecting clubs to try and sign Todd Cantwell from them, amid claims Leeds United want him, the Daily Mail report.
• Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder remains hopeful he can bring in the defender he needs in the next 10 days to cover the loss of Jack O’Connell. Huddersfield keen to offload Terence Kongolo though a medical flagged up issues with a previous injury, Preston’s Ben Davies and Bournemouth’s Diego Rico also being looked at.
• Norwich City defender Timm Klose has agreed a season-long loan to FC Basel. The Swiss Super League champions will also have the option to make the move permanent for an undisclosed fee.
• Karl Robinson felt Oxford United’s EFL Trophy game with Bristol Rovers showed where he needs to strengthen before the end of the transfer window. Interested in bringing back Middlesbrough’s Marcus Browne. Karl said: “It’s vitally important we bring in a little more pace and power in the middle of the park. We also need that wide player and a centre back, I think it’s glaringly obvious. I can make space for more if players don’t play well. We’ve got long enough.”
• Southend United manager Mark Molesley chose not to call on striker Charlie Kelman for last night’s EFL Trophy clash with Portsmouth amid interest from Queens Park Rangers.
• Charlton Athletic missed out on signing Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz on loan this transfer window, according to South London Press editor Richard Cawley.
• Sunderland look set to beat Hull City to the signing of Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts, according to The Northern Echo.
• Leeds United’s transfer links in Norwich’s Todd Cantwell has been dismissed as more of an attempt by his agent to drum up interest rather than anything serious.
