• Brentford have moved closer to signing Saman Ghoddos after the player was not included in the Amiens squad.
• Watford forward Luis Suarez is in talks to join Marseille.
• West Ham United have made an approach for Fluminese forward Marcos Paulo. Arsenal, Watford, Leeds and Southampton have also cast an eye over the player. The 19-year-old is a huge prospect in the Brazilian game. As such his side pinned Paulo to a release clause of £40million at just 17-year-old.
• Reading are edging closer to landing a new striker, and are hopeful of concluding a loan deal for Sporting CP forward Pedro Mendes in the coming days. He’s been capped twice at U21 level for Portugal. (Reading Chronicle)
• Derby County have joined Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough in the race to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Kenneth Zohore, according to The Northern Echo. Wednesday’s hopes of signing Zohore look to have hit a stumbling block, as the player’s new Premier League wages could be beyond the Owls’ current budget.
• West Brom striker Charlie Austin is not heading to Huddersfield as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Karlan Grant, YorkshireLive has reported.
• Leeds United and Aston Villa look set to miss out on Brentford sensation Said Benrahma, who appears to be edging closer to joining Crystal Palace in a deal likely to be worth around £20m. (The Sun)
• Bournemouth are said to have had a £5m bid for Preston North End defender Ben Davies rejected. The Lilywhites are believed to require double that fee to consider letting the Celtic-linked ace go. (Mirror)
• Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy could be set to snub a host of Championship sides including Nottingham Forest, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday, and instead pursue a move to Rangers. (Glasgow Times)
• Blackburn Rovers could look to make another bid for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Aynsley Pears, despite their latest £200k offer being knocked back. The club are thought to be unwilling to pay more than £400k. (Northern Echo)
• Ligue 1 outfit Dijon are believed to be leading the race to sign Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou. He’s scored 41 goals since joining the Robins back in 2017, and is in high demand this summer. (Sky Sports)
• Stoke City midfielder Badou Ndiaye is close to securing a move away from the Potters and head back to Turkey to join newly promoted Fatih Karagumruk, according to the Stoke Sentinel.
• Nottingham Forest are keen on a permanent move for Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter, according to BBC Radio Solent’s Kris Temple.
• Two potential deals for Manchester United’s James Garner have fallen through in the past week, though the midfield starlet will still depart on loan this summer. It is understood by the MEN that Huddersfield Town and Coventry City had both been interested in season-long loan deals for the 19-year-old, though he is not expected to join either club. Blackburn have also been linked.
• West Brom manager Slaven Bilic is eyeing up West Ham attacker Xande Silva, according to the Telegraph. Bilic is “determined” to sign a new centre-forward before the transfer window slams shut next month and Huddersfield’s Karlan Grant and West Ham’s Silva are reportedly his top targets.
• According to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are seeking a £12 million fee for defender Joe Worrall while suitors Burnley are currently only willing to pay half of that.
• Brentford have made it clear they have no plans to sell reported Leeds United, Aston Villa and West Ham United target Rico Henry before the transfer window slams shut, according to Sky Sports.
• The Daily Mail has suggested that Norwich City will sell 23-year-old attacking midfielder Emiliano Buendia, amid reported interest from Leeds United, who made an enquiry, then gave up.
• A recruitment source has told Football Insider that PNE’s Daniel Johnson is in advanced talks to join Rangers following extensive discussions with his current club.
• Tony Mowbray insists Blackburn Rovers will not be put off by quarantine measures when signing new players – with the club focusing their transfer interests on Europe. James Garner’s future is expected to be made in the next 24 hours, and Rovers will be desperate to not lose out on him.
• Northampton boss Keith Curle is in talks with three potential new signings and says ‘some are closer than others’.
• Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks, 23, looks likely to stay at the club because the Cherries value the Wales international at £50m and do not want to sell.
• Exeter City winger Randell Williams is the subject of interest from Hull City, Middlesbrough and Peterborough United, with Posh currently leading the chase to sign the 23-year-old winger. (Various)
• Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed one transfer-listed player could be invited back into the club’s salary cap squad… if he accepts a paycut. Louis Reed, Jason Naismith and George Boyd are currently on the transfer list. (Peterborough Telegraph)
• Arsenal are prepared to offer a transfer fee of around £10 million for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, with the Gunners’ back up keeper Emiliano Martinez moving to Premier League Aston Villa, according to The Sun.
• Derby County have been linked with Burnley striker Matej Vydra. However, Alan Nixon claims he isn’t totally out of the picture at Turf Moor.
• Ex-Celtic star Frank McAvennie has urged Celtic to snap up Charlton Athletic ace Alfie Doughty, expressing fears that “another club” could win the race, amid links with Luton Town. (Football Insider)
• Crystal Palace’s 18-year-old midfielder Scott Banks is being linked with a move to Brian Barry-Murphy’s Rochdale. (The Sun)
• Queens Park Rangers are weighing up a move for Ibrox outcast Jordan Jones. (Scottish Sun)
• Chesterfield have opted not to take their interest in Swindon Town midfielder Cameron McGilp any further. He was with the Spireites on trial for 10 days and played 45 minutes in a friendly.
• Yoan Zouma will be given a chance to earn a contract with Bolton Wanderers. The French defender was in on trial last week and will continue to train with Ian Evatt’s squad for the next few days as a decision on whether to offer him a contract is made.
• Huddersfield Town are lining up an ambitious move for highly-rated 22 year old Ajax midfielder Carel Eiting.
• Hull City are hoping they can secure the signing of Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn on loan, according to reports. Portsmouth and Ipswich have also been linked.
• According to a claim in the Greek media, Middlesbrough are very close to completing the signing of 24 year old PAOK striker Chuba Akpom.
• Newport County manager Mike Flynn has dismissed rumours his captain Josh Sheehan will join League One Bristol Rovers.
• Stoke City striker Benik Afobe is joining Turkish club Trabzonspor for a season. (The Sun)
• Hull City look to be providing Huddersfield Town with serious competition to sign Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts on loan, with outcome likely to rest upon who can offer the most first-team football. (The Sun)
• Charlton Athletic are believed to have turned down a bid for their star striker Macauley Bonne. The Zimbabwe international has been heavily linked with Preston North End throughout the summer. (South London Press)
• Birmingham City are in talks with Ipswich Town about a £2.5m deal for striker Kayden Jackson. Bournemouth have already had an offer rejected for the 26-year-old Englishman.
• Watford look set to up their efforts to sign Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen. The Sweden international appears to be surplus to I Giallorossi’s requirements, and spent last season on loan with divisional rivals Cagliari. (Sport Witness)
• Ben Davies, 25-year-old central defender, has been the subject of interest from Celtic and AFC Bournemouth with Preston knocking back an offer from the Cherries. More likely to sign a pre-contract with the Hoops.
