With the 2020/21 campaign reaching a crescendo in Europe’s top divisions, attention will turns to the upcoming transfer window. Check out the transfer talk for the Football League…

– Newcastle United’s 21-year-old English midfielder Matty Longstaff is wanted by Norwich City, Middlesbrough and West Brom, as well as Belgian side Anderlecht. (Chronicle)

– Cardiff City have won the race for Wolves midfielder Ryan Giles and agreed to sign him on a season-long loan deal, according to Football Insider.

– Napoli and Arsenal believe Sheffield United will be forced into lowering their asking price for Sander Berge, which is apparently around the £35m mark. (Sheffield Star)

– Portsmouth would be very interested in signing Millwall midfielder Ben Thompson if the Championship side were willing to let him leave, according to the BBC’s Andrew Moon.

– Swansea City have opened talks to sign Burnley defender Jimmy Dunne, with his contract set to expire in the coming days. (Football Insider)

– Neil Warnock is reportedly stepping up his pursuit of former Sunderland striker Josh Maja, according to reports. The Mirror claims that Boro are interested in bringing the 22-year-old to Teesside this summer.

– Birmingham striker Sam Cosgrove, who has had limited game time at St Andrew’s since arriving from Aberdeen, is interesting Ipswich. (East Anglian Daily Press)

– West Brom boss Valerien Ismael is eyeing a move for Jack Hendry, who could be sold for a second time in the same transfer window – according to a report from the Daily Mail. Hendry is now an Oostende player after leaving Celtic permanently. According to the Daily Mail, he signed for the Belgian club for £1.8 million.

– West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Alex Mowatt following his release from Barnsley. New Baggies boss Valerien Ismael of course worked with the midfielder at Barnsley. (The Athletic)

– Nottingham Forest are rivalling Millwall for Groningen midfielder Ahmed El Messaoudi, while La Liga side Granada and Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Hazem are also keen. (GVA – in Belgium)

– Former Cardiff City and Derby County loanee Harry Wilson is wanted by Portuguese giants Benfica, who have held talks with the West Brom and Brentford – linked midfielder. (Liverpool Echo)

– Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has tipped West Ham United to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong rather than Brentford’s Ivan Toney. Armstrong and Toney were the two highest scorers in the Championship last term, with the former bagging 28 goals and the Bees frontman adding 33 as he helped his side win promotion to the Premier League. The Hammers have been linked with both forwards this summer, with Blackburn said to value Armstrong at around £25 million and Brentford thought to want £35 million for Toney. (Football League World)

– Championship club Millwall are in advanced talks to sign Daniel Ballard on loan this season, according to reports. Blackburn and Blackpool had also been linked.

– A number of Championship clubs, including Barnsley and Nottingham Forest, are interested in signing 26-year-old Danish midfielder Emiliano Marcondes, whose contract with Brentford runs out later this month. (Mail)

– Regan Slater would prefer to remain with Sheffield United this summer if he can work his way into Slavisa Jokanovic’s plans but Hull City are confident they can sign him if he is to leave, according to Yorkshire Live.

– Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly ‘tracking’ Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing who is still under contract at the Riverside. Wing had a spell on loan at Rotherham United last season where he impressed despite the Millers’ relegation. (Yorkshire Live)

– Former Sheffield Wednesday loanee Jack Marriott is reportedly keen on going back to Peterborough after leaving Derby County, despite interest from Hull City. (Peterborough Telegraph)

– Preston are ready to make their move for a right back in the transfer window. Right-back is now the clear priority position to strengthen and that a final decision will be made early next week. Matthew Olosunde is the main name in the frame, with a deal believed to be close for the departing Rotherham full-back. But the Lilywhites are believed to have two other options on the cards, with all three players wanting to come to Deepdale and potential deals at different stages with the respective clubs.

– Blackburn Rovers are set to miss out on re-signing Taylor Harwood-Bellis on a second loan deal, with the defender set to sign for Belgian side Anderlecht, according to The Lancashire Telegraph.

– Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in bringing Doncaster Rovers midfielder John Bostock to the club in the summer transfer window.

– Rochdale and Exeter City lead the race to sign Norwich City goalkeeper Archie Mair this summer, Football Insider understands. The Scotland Under-21 international is highly thought of at Carrow Road and recently signed a new deal at the Premier League new boys until 2024.

– Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke has told Celtic he wants a four-year deal, as per a report by Football Insider.

– Rangers are in talks with Football League-linked Josh McPake over a new deal, as per a report by Football Insider. They look to tie down the winger to a three-year contract. Tranmere Rovers, Oldham Athletic, Morecambe and Doncaster Rovers have all been linked in the Football League, as per a report by the Independent earlier this week.

– Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop is also on the radar of Tranmere Rovers, Carlisle United, Exeter City and Oldham Athletic, as per a report by the Oldham Times.

– Sheffield Wednesday are interested in a move for recently released Everton midfielder Dennis Adeniran, The Star has reported.

– Preston North End are ‘close to confirming’ the signing of Rotherham United’s 23 year old right back Matthew Olosunde, reports Lancs Live.

– Ipswich Town striker Aaron Drinan is set to sign for League Two side Leyton Orient over the coming days.

– Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton has told Lincolnshire Live that former West Brom pair Max Melbourne and Zak Elbouzedi can both leave the club this summer.


– Eric Lichaj. Ex Villa and Forest defender. Good pro. On a free after a spell in Turkey. League One and Two interest.

– Charlton. Want ex Portsmouth keeper McGillivray as Ben Amos heads to Wigan.

– Blackburn. Sam Gallagher keen on Scotland call up. Played for both Scots and English at youth level.

– Brentford. Taking an interest in Joe Worrall at Forest. Burnley main rivals. Down to asking price. Neither want an auction.

– Blackpool. Want to sign Gabriel from Forest after loan spell last season.

– Stoke. Keen on midfielder Ali McCann at St.Johnstone. N Ireland cap. Swansea and Hull also watching that one.

– Sheff Wed. Want 5m for Josh Windass. Millwall and Birmingham keen but not at that price.

– Portsmouth. Keen on Owen Dale at Crewe if Curtis goes. Too expensive for Ipswich and Wycombe at this point.

– West Brom. Keen on Kean Bryan at Sheff U. Free agent. Good addition to back line options. Also Mowatt thing live.

– Burnley. Midfielder Adam Phillips wanted by both Fleetwood and Accrington a Stanley on loan. Also keen to sign young Rangers player Ciaran Dickson.

– Hartlepool. Want keeper Trevor Carson at Motherwell. From the area. Well keen on free agent keeper Tom King ex Newport.
