– Boss Paul Warne is hopeful Rotherham United can get at least one loan signing through the door before the weekend after the club’s deadline day disappointment. Bids were lodged for players but selling clubs refused to sanction the deals due to their own failure to line up replacements.

Nottingham Forest will continue their determined pursuit of Sam Byram, despite the passing of the transfer deadline – and the Reds remain hopeful they can complete a deal to sign the West Ham defender. A loan deal, with the view to a permanent deal, is something that could be on the table for the Hammers to consider in the coming days.

– The East Anglian Daily Times understands that Ipswich Town are looking to sign a centre back and a forward in the loan window.

Charlton Athletic hope to complete the signing of one player on a loan deal on Friday according to reports on the club’s official website. Lee Bowyer said “We’ve agreed with a club to bring someone in (on loan). He’s on his way down now. He’ll have a medical tomorrow (today).”


Wigan Athletic have signed attacking midfielder Josh Windass from Rangers on a three-year contract and Ipswich Town striker Joe Garner on a two-year deal. This morning, the club have also signed Lee Evans.

Peterborough United have signed Newcastle striker Ivan Toney for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

Stoke City have signed Swansea City midfielder Sam Clucas on a four-year contract for a fee of about £6m.

Fulham have signed Marseille midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa in a £22.3m deal, one of five transfers the Cottagers completed on Thursday. Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan joined for £6m, with loan deals for Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto, Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico and Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

– Striker Jordan Ayew has joined Crystal Palace from Swansea on a season-long loan deal. Ayew, 26, joined Swansea from Aston Villa in 2017 and was top scorer for the club last season with 11 goals.

Nottingham Forest have signed Huddersfield Town centre-half Michael Hefele for an undisclosed fee thought to be about £300,000.

– League Two side Lincoln have signed Heybridge Swifts midfielder Joan Luque for an undisclosed fee and experienced former Derby defender Jason Shackell.

Oxford United have signed winger Ricky Holmes on a season-long loan deal from Championship club Sheffield United. Oxford have also signed two midfielders for undisclosed fees – Bury‘s Tsun Dai, 19, on a two-year contract and Derby‘s Jamie Hanson, 22, on a four-year deal.

– League Two side Macclesfield Town have signed Peter Vincenti after the midfielder was released from his contract at Coventry City.

Birmingham City have signed midfielder Gary Gardner from local rivals Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.

– League One side Shrewsbury Town have signed Tranmere Rovers midfielder Ollie Norburn on a three-year deal. Salop have also signed Mansfield striker Lee Angol for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

Brighton have signed defenders Martin Montoya from Valencia and Dan Burn from Wigan for undisclosed fees.

Blackpool have signed defender Donervon Daniels until the end of the season.

Bristol City have signed Chelsea left-back Jay Dasilva on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old England youth international is a three-time winner of the FA Youth Cup with the Blues.

Accrington Stanley have re-signed striker Andy Mangan on a one-year-deal, plus Middlesbrough goalkeeper Connor Ripley on a season-long loan.

Derby County have signed Scunthorpe United midfielder Duane Holmes for an undisclosed fee.

Scunthorpe United have signed forward Ryan Colclough from Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Colcough, 23, scored six goals in 35 games for the Latics last season as they won promotion to the Championship.

– League One side Wycombe have signed defender Jason McCarthy from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.

Walsall have signed Leicester City striker Josh Gordon on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee. Meanwhile, former Saddlers midfielder Isaiah Osbourne, 30, has returned to Walsall on a one-year contract after turning down a new Forest Green deal.

Bristol Rovers have signed two strikers, bringing in Shrewsbury Town‘s Stefan Payne for an undisclosed fee and Watford‘s Alex Jakubiak on loan.

– Championship side Wigan Athletic have signed versatile Everton youngster Callum Connolly on a season-long loan deal.

Preston North End have signed England Under-21 striker Lukas Nmecha from Manchester City on a season-long loan.

Carlisle United have signed defender Anthony Gerrard after he was sacked by Oldham Athletic for gross misconduct.
