Tranmere co-owner Mark Palios “shocked and dismayed” at club’s relegation battle

Tranmere Rovers co-owner Mark Palios says he has been left “shocked and dismayed” at the club’s relegation battle this season.

Sitting perilously close to the League Two drop zone, Palios has publicly expressed his concern about the predicament the team find themselves in.

His comments, in an email to fans renewing their season tickets, reflect the gravity of the situation, with the club winless in their last ten matches and just three points above the relegation zone, and recent have sacked Nigel Adkins.

LETTER TO FANS:

“Thank you for renewing your season card for the 2025/26 season, on the first day of release.

“I just wanted to personally thank you on behalf of Nicola and me for this support in the difficult times the Club faces on the field and all the uncertainty off the field.

“We are all too aware of what a disappointment this season has been after all the excitement at the start of the season, with the biggest playing budget and the most experienced manager we have ever had.

“We are shocked and dismayed to find ourselves sitting perilously close to the relegation places and it is extraordinary that, despite this, season card sales on the first day of release are more than 15 times the number we sold on release day last year.

“That is incredibly humbling and we are hugely grateful to those of you who have shown your support for the Club in this way.

“We will never take that support for granted.

“We have experienced many difficult times over the years since we took over with a relegation out of the league; demotion during Covid with a pitch collapse at the same time.

“But with everyone sticking together and support typified by that which you’ve shown, we’ve come through those times.

“On the pitch, this has been, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most difficult seasons we have faced during my time at Tranmere, and we both feel the huge weight of responsibility to try to make it right.

“We know we are facing a real battle.

“We will do all in our power to try to make sure we win it.

“The support of loyal fans such as you make the fight worth the pain.

“In the meantime, we continue to work on passing on the baton at Tranmere to new owners who will cherish the Club and give it a bright future.

“These deals are immensely complex and are never certain until they are done.

“The poor results don’t make it any easier but we believe we have found an ownership group who will be able to bring back the good times that we have shared with you in the last 10 years, and take the Club further forward in the future.

“Football club “owners” are not owners in the conventional sense.

“They are custodians there to try to safeguard the Club and hand it on for future generations to enjoy. Fans like you ARE the Club. So thank you for your support.” – Mark Palios

@TRFC1980: His heads completely gone mate. If it was ever there like. 😩

@les_murray71: Jesus christ, there’s some shit in there

@asapholic_trfc: Only thing that’a relevant is the 2nd to last paragraph

@JohnHeggie1: 15 times more season cards, really

@cambo691: That and we had our most experienced manager ever !!!

@Raging_Wool: Fair enough, he’s clearly off his fucking rocker. But what’s worse is that he thinks he can say anything and we will all just buy it

@cambo691:
Was just sent this
More spin than an Asian cricket pitch
Of course covid and pitch collapse were in there
Man is a deluded narcissist

@Doyleyy98: Excuse after excuse all other clubs had to deal with covid an seem to be doing fine apart from us… mark just hurry up and fuckoff will ye your boring

@RicciTRFC: MP email to ST holders “We will do all in our power” to stay up. What, you mean like leaving it far too late to sack your mate & signing 2 Utd kids in Jan? More absolute spin & waffle from the master himself. Just be gone. That email also going on about despite our highest budget & experienced manager we are fighting for survival. That proves how crap the recruitment & decision making has been, something you’ve been a major part of. Am I reading too much into that email from MP regarding results making sale difficult in terms of it being contingent on staying up? Or just it’s difficult juggling sale of club while trying to stay up, sacking Adkins etc?
