Tottenham supporters announce plans to protest against club chiefs for West Ham fixture

Frustrated Tottenham supporters groups announce plans to protest against club chiefs for the upcoming West Ham fixture.

The supporters’ group Change For Tottenham (CFT), supported by Our Spurs One Seven (OS17), is organising the action amid deep frustration with the club’s direction, the board’s transfer strategy and lack of ambition, plus rising ticket prices.

There is uncertainty around the Director of Football role, persistent injury crises, poor recent results and performances, with Thomas Frank’s side sitting 14th in the Premier League, winless in seven games, and recently exited the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

CHANGE FOR TOTTENHAM STATEMENT:

OUR CLUB, OUR VOICE

In Stadium Protest & Meet Up Announcement: Saturday 17th January at 2pm before West Ham, on the corner of Park Lane and the High Road, outside the Corner Pin pub.

Following on from our previous statement, we have decided to take action on Saturday 17th January starting at 2pm before the West Ham game. There is growing frustration within the fan base surrounding the board’s transfer strategy, clarity on the Director of Football role, our continuous injury crises season after season, recent results/performances on the pitch and extortionate ticket prices.

We believe acting now will hopefully mean our voices are heard at such a pivotal time during the January transfer window. Our first team and squad needs serious investment, and after The Lewis Family Trust. Vinai Venkatesham and Fabio Paratici told supporters that they were ready to be ambitious and prioritise trophies after Daniel Levy stood down, all we ask as fans is that these promises are kept.

We are meeting at 2pm on the corner of Park Lane and the High Road, outside the Corner Pin pub. Please bring (preferably yellow) banners, flags, scarves and your voices to make sure we are seen and heard.

We will then head into the stadium at approx 2:25pm for a 2:30pm concourse meet and an in stadium protest.

We are meeting between entrances 20 and 21 by the balcony in front of block 254 to create as much atmosphere as possible.

Yellow is our colour for change, so please wear, wave or hold as much yellow as possible before and during the game.

Make sure you join us to ensure your voice is heard and play your part in Change for Tottenham.

OUR SPURS ONE SEVEN STATEMENT:

OUR CLUB. OUR VOICE.

Supporter Action vs West Ham
Saturday 17th January

This Saturday, CHANGE FOR TOTTENHAM will be leading supporter action ahead of and during the West Ham game.

OS17 will be working closely alongside CFT in supporting the movement and helping coordinate the in-stadium concourse action.

CFT have given supporters a platform to come together and be heard at a time when frustration across the fanbase is at its highest.

Concerns around the club’s direction, recruitment strategy, repeated injury issues, performances on the pitch, and rising ticket prices have been ignored for too long.

With the January transfer window open, this is a crucial moment.

Supporters were told ambition would be shown and trophies prioritised this action is about reminding those in charge that words need to be matched by decisions and investment.

Here’s how fans reacted as frustrated Tottenham supporters groups announce plans to protest against club chiefs for the upcoming West Ham fixture…

@soycatt0: Useless without a stadium walkout. When you understand that is when you will become relevant. You are doing nothing.

@smiffy1983: I’m Sorry but you need to make a stance where the cameras wil see it. Empty seats, at this point it’s a must. Even if people don’t take their seats until the 10th minute. It’s a visible inside the stafi where cameras will take notice.

@VatAnton: Empty seats, empty bars and empty merchandise store is the only way £NIC will listen! Stop spending match day revenue!! Mass walkout 12th minute of the game. The pictures of fans leaving in their droves will do more damage than any protest on the street with thousands

@Lewis_c12SG: This isn’t enough. There is no protest for the board to witness they will not care. Empty seats is more of a protest than anything else. Remain in concourse for first ten mins an then take seats. Let tv cameras pick it up. Make a proper statement

@GrahamWilko: I applaud the continuation of supporters mobilising themselves. When we launched We Are N17 to oppose the move to Stratford there were so many naysayers and opinions as to what we should or shouldn’t do. The courage to act is with @ChangeForSpurs ✊🏻👏🏻

@Jackgrey99: Needs to happen in the stadium for the media etc to see.

@SpursDub: This is well and good but when half the people at the protest are buying drinks and merch in the club shop, it kind of defeats the purpose. Fans should be boycotting all together.

@SimonCambridge: I’m not surprised there’s going to be a demo. There’s even more riding on this game than normal. The circumstances of both clubs are very similar at present and both fan bases aren’t happy with their owners. Both managers could be sacked soon to? Should be some game? #COYS #THFC
