Man Utd took to release a statement on Sunday night, after Bruno Fernandes’ Twitter account gets hacked with a series of tweets posted.
It came following their FA Cup Third Round exit to Brighton, with the tweets soon coming to United’s attention and they told fans on the social media platform not to interact with it until further notice.
Brajan Gruda put Brighton ahead after just 12 minutes, then former United striker Danny Welbeck made it 2-0 on 64 minutes. Benjamin Sesko got when ended up being a consolation for the hosts, and Shea Lacey ended up being sent off.
Hours after the final whistle, the club read: “Bruno Fernandes’s X account has been hacked. Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages.”
The tweets all started with what seemed to be a crypto scam.
“Can anyone in the crypto scene help me make a better coin?”
“Can’t work out how Zora works, anyone else knows how to make a coin?”
Also tweets on the hacked account, which has around 4.5million followers:

The hacker has now appeared to been removed from the 31 year old’s account, with all posts since being deleted. The identity of the individual behind the posts, which got hundreds of thousands of views remains unknown.
United sources add that their captain’s Twitter is secure again, and the club will investigate how the hacker got access to it.
The club will have to look to social media security recommendations in order to protect themselves, their players and staff.
