Tottenham reportedly close in on new manager as a report states when he could be appointed, with speculation rife at the moment.
Spurs are nearing securing a deal for new manager after holding further rounds of talks in recent days, Football Insider can reveal.
The North London outfit have narrowed down their list of candidates after extensive meetings and a process that has taken in wide-ranging managers in the Premier League and overseas, across all age brackets.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider (reliable when it comes to news on manager searches) the club are increasingly confident of having the new man in place by the end of the domestic season, with Simone Inzaghi the current favourite.
Sky Bet have odds on him at 7/4 – with the manager open to joining – whilst Scott Parker is second on the list at 4/1.
The 45 year old Italian has emerged as a surprise leading contender to be the next Spurs manager and says he is set to discuss his future at Lazio with club bosses in the coming days.
Inzaghi has been in charge in Rome since April 2016, winning the Coppa Italia in 2019 and twice winning the Supercoppa Italiana with Lazio, where he also spent over 10 years of his playing career.
His side have had a firm but unspectacular campaign this time round, sitting sixth in Serie A after a 1-0 win over Parma on Wednesday night, but Inzaghi has now emerged as the bookmakers’ favourite to be appointed as Tottenham manager.
Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi is the new favourite to be the next Tottenham manager
He’s now managed the Italian giants for five seasons where he’s won three trophies and recently took them to the Champions League knock-out stages 🇮🇹🏆

That means an appointment being made potentially in the week commencing the 24th of May, straight after the finish of the top flight campaign.
Tottenham have suffered complications in luring well-established Premier League managers including the likes of Brendan Rodgers.
The Spurs board have given up hope of luring him from Leicester City irrespective of whether they secure a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.
A move for Marcelo Bielsa is unlikely as he prepares to extend his Leeds United contract by a further season.
That leaves them searching overseas or for a more readily-available domestic manager.
Fulham’s Scott Parker has his supporters in the Tottenham boardroom, not least chairman Daniel Levy and he has a fine reputation as an up-and-coming manager. Other reports claim he will not be sacked by the Cottagers.
More experienced Premier League operators like Roberto Martinez and Rafael Benitez have had discussions.
Footy Insider revealed on Monday that Martinez is making a “huge play” for the vacancy behind the scenes but Tottenham are “cooling” on him despite his enthusiasm for the job.
Benitez remains an interesting option for the Spurs board given his impressive CV that includes league and Champions League trophies, proven Premier League calibre as well as, crucially, his availability.
The Spaniard, whose main family home is in England, is said to be keen on the Tottenham job as well as a return to the Premier League.
There is currently no contact with Gian Piero Gasperini, while Marcelo Bielsa has no interest.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has named Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter as the two of the managers who tick the boxes for what the club are looking for.
Fans reacted as Tottenham close in on a new manager as a report states when he could be appointed, plus there is talk on a protest…
@JDalesenior: I would’ve loved him as a player joining the club but not as manager, please NO!!!!! #COYS
@Slippery_86: Rodgers for me all day, inzagi hasn’t shown what his got as a manager
@MarcellBhanu: He won like 3 trophies for Lazio bro. Spurs and Lazio aren’t so different in financial, he can do it with a squad who I think not even better than Spurs.
@LetSergeCross: i’d take Inzaghi over Rodgers easily
@_petey_pan: Before I renew my season ticket, can you confirm
1) who the manager will be
2) will Kane stay
3) will we keep Bale
4) how much does the new man have to spend
#SuperLeague or no SuperLeague, makes no difference
Fed up of wasting MY money whilst #Lewis & #Levy get rich!
#COYS #THFC
@CDBaker86: Massive respect to anyone and everyone who is going to the #ENICOUT/ #LevyOut protests today and tomorrow. Please be peaceful and lawful but make our voices heard. We have suffered in silence for far too long. Enough is enough. Real change is needed at our great club! #COYS
@chileboy77: Fully understand about fans being upset and right to protest but I don’t see a multi billionaire waiting to buy us and effectively give us a large part of his fortune (I.e not in it for money). If ENIC left we could get something worse instead potentially. #THFC #COYS
@JoeyTHFC: #THFC have not signed:
— A RB to improve the first XI since 2009 (Walker)
— A creative mid/playmaker since 2013 (Eriksen)
— A CB to improve the first XI since 2015 (Alderweireld)
— A forward to improve the first XI since 2015 (Son)
Recruitment is an absolute disgrace
@SI8BALL: ENIC OUT LEVY OUT – GIVE US OUR TOTTENHAM BACK #COYS #ENICOUT #thfc
Ignore people who are mocking fellow supporters going to the protest today.
Try to understand it is a hard day for them as disciples of Levy as they never thought the day would come when people turn on their God!
It’s almost time…. #THFC #LevyOut #EnicOut #EnoughIsEnough pic.twitter.com/4yBakNs1w5

This is the guy in charge of finding Tottenham’s new manager and recruiting new players….. absolutely clueless. It’s no coincidence the club has gone backwards since his appointment. Levy went full on Spursy and gave him a new contract this year! Utter madness #thfc #ENICOUT pic.twitter.com/5OUU1iQKaO
