Torquay cause backlash as they reveal season ticket prices for 2023/24 after being relegated

Torquay United cause backlash as they reveal season ticket prices for the 2023/24 season after being relegated to the sixth tier.

Gary Johnson, the Gulls’ manager, has confirmed that he will remain at the club for the next season despite the relegation of the team to the National League South.

Johnson has previously guided the Gulls’ head coach since 2018 and led them to the National League South promotion in 2019.

He said he would like to stay in the role he held before the final match of the season.

Torquay’s relegation was confirmed after their draw against champions Wrexham, finishing the season two points away from safety.

They have now announced the season ticket and matchday ticketing arrangements for the new campaign.

CLUB STATEMENT:

With United’s 2022/23 campaign now concluded, preparations are already well underway at Plainmoor for next term, with the Club pleased to announce Season Ticket and Matchday ticketing arrangements for 2023/24.

As a mark of appreciation to the Yellow Army’s continued support during the past twelve months, the Club is also delighted to confirm that all Season Ticket prices for 2023/24 have been FROZEN, with all prices for Season Tickets carried over from 2022/23. In addition to this, the Club has introduced even more incentives for Season Ticket holders to benefit from, meaning there has never been a better time to get behind The Gulls!

With Early Discount prices again on offer, Torquay United AFC are encouraging more families than ever to witness the live football action in person, with the Club continuing to offer savings to young supporters accompanied by an adult, with Under 7s FREE and Under-12 Season Tickets available for just £46 – working out a just £2 per game!

 from Sunday 30th April until Friday 2nd June at 2pm. Renewing 2022/23 Season Ticket holders will be provided with priority access to their current seats during this time, before then being released for general sale.

With United’s last National League South campaign coinciding with Gary Johnson’s first at the helm, The Gulls went on to enjoy a record-breaking 2018/19, as they conquered all before them on their way to sealing Torquay United’s first league title since 1927. Johnson’s men will no doubt be looking to replicate that success next term, as the Club look to bounce back and regain their National League status at the first attempt.

With Torquay United AFC firmly establishing itself as an all-inclusive, family-orientated Club, we are again encouraging more local families than ever to witness the live football action in person, with the Club continuing to offer savings to young supporters accompanied by an adult, with Under 7s FREE in our Family Stand, and Under-12 Season Tickets available for just £69. Under-18 season tickets, meanwhile, remain superb value at £125, with TUAFC also delighted to offer its Family Season Ticket at just £475, representing even more savings for United-loving families!

As mentioned, Torquay cause backlash as they reveal season ticket prices for 2023/24 after being relegated…

@Louis32M: Tf are them prices 😭 we’re in the SIXTH tier of English football

@DonnyNo6: £20 odd for match day tickets for away fans in the NLS??? Guess you’re cashing in on all the local derbys, not sure to many other away supporters will be bothered about coming. 🤷‍♂️🙄🤔

@capitalgull: Thanks but no thanks. I’ll be picking and choosing my (fewer) games. If I bother at all. I’m becoming a fair weather…thanks for the relegation.

@J_GRANT1109: £340 for some regional football lovely stuff!

@mdavisontafc: Have you forgotten you’ve been relegated?? £22 for the National League South 😳

@Torquayhopper12: Might be worth reconsidering this, you do realise we’ve gone down a level right?

@Fynnlay4: These prices are ridiculous, doesn’t look like I’ll be renewing my season ticket then 😢

@Alexs1056: Are you taking the piss? 22 quid to watch national league south football. Have a look at yourself please

@Mark_Pie: I thought £16.50p at St Albans yesterday was a tad steep for Conference South! £12-£14 for an adult ticket is plenty enough for this level of football

@RussWWFC: Blimey guys, nice club to visit but a minimum of £20 walk up for sixth tier football – are you sure?

@Hoppyontour: Makes £406 to watch Rotherham cheap!

@nodge1985: You need to rethink this. You can’t charge these prices for regional football

@RachelVillavox: You’ve kept a manager on that produced just 7 wins in 38 games playing crap football and relegated us, now charging NL prices in a regional part time league. dystopian 😵‍💫

@georgecricfoot3: £20 a match for National South 😂😂😂

@orchardsedge: Frozen! We’ve been relegated to regional football ffs. Disgrace. If you’ve kept that useless manager on an inflated contract that’s your problem

@tomd0312: Are you serious

@Connor_RiceyGFC: A feel for your fan’s here. 300+ quid for REGIONAL football? Having a laugh here

@TorquayFans1: That’s a joke

@callumLtfc: HOW MUCH.

@StokesyPlays: Relegated to the National League South and want £20-22 for a ticket 😂 League Two clubs charge less 😂

@Alexs1056: How is the club pleased to announce that they’re going to be ripping people off for a game of regional football. It’s disgusting

@sufcwik: £380 for a season ticket at premier league sheffield united, or £340 for regional 6th tier torquay. you decide.

@GreenArmy46: Talk about kick your own fans in the teeth when their down. Those prices are ridiculous 😬

@michael_coy: They’ve been ‘kind enough’ to freeze season ticket prices 😂 And for those who can’t make every game, the prices have gone UP, for a relegated, 6th tier side. You couldn’t write it…. 7 wins this season and that’s our reward, unbelievable #tufc

@jackrowlands123: £22 entry for National League South football next season. Thieving cunts.

@Bobbystewart03: What. The. Fuck. Get in the bin.

@nick_french: The club takes us backwards and as a ‘mark of appreciation’ they won’t charge more for REGIONAL FOOTBALL. I had been prepared to buy one for me, an U12’s one and integrate my daughter further into supporting us, and an owner that deserves FUCK ALL from the fans. No chance.
