Stephen Bradley was installed as the favourites to takeover at Lincoln City shortly after the club announced the departure of Mark Kennedy.
Bradley, who turned down the job at Lincoln in 2022, recently casted doubt on his Shamrock Rovers future after declaring that talks on his position and discussions with key out-of-contract players have been delayed until the end of the current season.
Bradley had stated that a planned board meeting would pave the way to get “everything in motion” for 2024, with the Shamrock Rovers boss referring to his position and player recruitment.
But, there was a noticeable change with those talks put on hold with the season ending in November 2023.
His side currently sit top of the League of Ireland Premier Division, four points clear with a game in hand over second place Derry City.
Should Shamrock win the league, it would be for the fourth consecutive time.
Stephen Bradley has been the manager of Shamrock Rovers since July 2016.
In 2019, he guided Shamrock Rovers to finish in second place in the League of Ireland Premier Division, finishing 11 points behind first-place Dundalk FC.
He enjoyed better success in the 2019 FAI Cup, they saw better success, reaching the final against Dundalk and winning 4-2 on penalties to claim their first national silverware in eight years, and their first FAI Cup win since 1987.
Then things got better in 2020, Shamrock Rovers winning their 18th league title under Bradley, winning the title with 4 games to spare.
In 2021 Bradley’s Rovers team retained the title, winning the league by sixteen points.
The three in a row was achieved in the 2022 League of Ireland Premier Division season as well as group qualification for the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League.

Here’s how fans reacted with the top six favourites to become new Lincoln City manager revealed after the departure of Mark Kennedy…
@Staceywestblog: 🧵 Pondering early favourites and a few names jump out. Stephen Bradley, Leam Richardson and John Eustace all likely to be mentioned. Also, DC. Obviously. Bradley feels like our first choice from 18 months ago, and is likely to be leaving Shamrock soon. Highly rated, and clearly someone we’ll already know well after our last approach. Got a tune out of Danny M before. Richardson is young, ambitious and has previously been promoted from this division with Wigan. Kept them up under really tough circumstances, then won promotion. Eustace I like. Former assistant to Stephen Kenny at Ireland. Done wonders keeping Birmingham up last season and got off to a flyer this time out before a harsh sacking. Did well at Kidderminster in non league, so can work at lower levels. Danny (and Nicky) the obvious shout. If a fractured dressing room is a problem, he’s the man to fix it. Experienced now after spells at Huddersfield and Pompey. Squad looks ripe for their style as well. My choice? ♥️ says Danny and Nicky, 🧠 says Eustace or Bradley
@NGlliver: I might be being naive but I don’t want Stephen Bradley. Rejected us originally, feels like begging a girl who rejected us and if he joined its not cos he really wants to
@uptheimps_: Like the sound of John eustace.
@srfc1234hoops: The rumours are back about Stephen Bradley going to Lincoln. Seriously rovers give Stephen Bradley more money so he stays with us. He is going to be a massive loss if he leaves rovers
@BigGreggerr: This is nailed on for the Cowleys isn’t it, hope they get it
@Friendlytaxidr1: Bring back the Cowley brothers!!!
@JohnTemp1986: By the sounds of it MK lost the dressing room. Also to the ones who keep saying bring back DC & NC, imo would be a bad choice and we need to look elsewhere
@Foxtastic12: In the short term whilst Tom Shaw is at the helm wouldn’t be surprised to see more of Jovon ( think they were at Gainsborough together ) and possibly Dylan Duffy. Maybe one or two tweaks to the existing formation
@Richard_Fogg: Always thought the Cowley brothers would return to The Bank,I just didn’t think it would be this soon. Welcome home champs 🏆
@ThingsIndex: Total shock this one. Liked what we were building under Kennedy. Please don’t bring the Cowleys back. Never go back to an old flame, it’s never as good second time round. #imps #lcfc #lincolncity
@N_a_j95: Bring the brothers home
@Jake_Seal: Announce Cowleys
@ncimp1959: Thank the board for this decisive decision 👏 Football over the past few months has been dire and no plan B or leadership shown. Lets move on with somebody who knows what they are doing!
@petch_matt: Bring. Them. Home. #Cowleys
