Maltby Main name ex-Sheff Wed, MK Dons, Charlton, Brentford, Scunthorpe player Miguel Llera as their new assistant manager.
He will be assistant to manager Jamie Smith, who tweeted: “A game changer for our club. Got to know @Migue_Llera over the last 18 month an I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to come on board with me. One of the best coaches around an a great man with an outstanding football career. Welcome mate great to have you by my side 🔥⚫️🔴🙌🏻”
The 44 year old comes in at the Northern Counties East League Premier Division club, having built up plenty of coaching experience from coaching under 14s at Sheffield Wednesday, becoming a scout, launching his own academy, being a Professional Development Phase coach at Chesterfield, an assistant manager at Sheffield FC, a primary and secondary physical coach and academy manager at Walsall, and a member of the coaching staff at Retford United.
He spent much of his playing career in the lower leagues of his country, appearing in only 12 La Liga games with Gimnàstic before moving to England in 2008 after signing with Milton Keynes Dons, going on to remain in the country until his retirement and represent a numbers of clubs, mainly Sheffield Wednesday (three years) and Charlton Athletic (two).

Miguel Llera recently spoke about seeking for his first managerial job having attained a Pro Licence – the highest professional coaching badge in the game.
“I would like to get my first manager role,” Llera said to Yorkshire Live.
“I’ve been working at Goole and Retford as a first team coach and have worked at academies too, Walsall for a few years. I would like to get my first role. I feel I can do quite well. I’ve managed teams, leading sessions as the coach and preparing the team tactically and physically.
“I know I’m Spanish and we understand the role of the manager differently – Spanish people tend to be more of a coach than a manager. But I’ve let people know that I am available. I’m waiting for doors to open.
“I’m looking for that first opportunity. It’s not easy to get that first job and even more so for someone from abroad. That’s why I am happy to take a team in the lower divisions. The thing is getting that first opportunity. My standards on and off the pitch are really high.”
We spoke to Miguel Llera, the former #swfc defender who is now plotting a path in management.
Some really interesting views on his old club, why they’re struggling and his snub from the previous manager….. https://t.co/6fdD43Rd6Lhttps://t.co/6fdD43Rd6L
