The top six favourites have been revealed as Tottenham Hotspur confirm the sacking of their manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
Spurs’ depressing loss to Manchester United on Saturday proved a fatal blow to Nuno’s hopes of staying in charge at the Premier League outfit.
Prior to the weekend’s performance, various media outlets claimed that removing Nuno from his position as head coach had not been formally discussed by chairman Daniel Levy and other key figures despite the club’s mediocre start to the campaign.

CLUB STATEMENT:
The Club can today announce that Nuno Espírito Santo and his coaching staff Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have been relieved of their duties.
Fabio Paratici, Managing Director, Football, said: “I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision.
“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
A further coaching update will follow in due course.
– STATEMENT ENDS –
The manner of Saturday’s loss to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team and the alarming crowd reaction to it has now forced the club into drastic action. El Sackico it really proved to be.
Levy and the club’s hierarchy, including director of football Fabio Paratici, held emergency talks to discuss Nuno’s future on Sunday and decided to wield the axe.
There was a sense that sacking former Wolves manager Nuno was a direct reaction to the deafening boos that echoed round the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.
NUNO’S RECORD AS TOTTENHAM BOSS
Games: 17
Wins: 8
Draws: 2
Losses: 7
Goals scored: 21
Goals conceded: 23
The club began Sunday preparing for Nuno to remain in charge for at least the European game against Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday night.
However it quickly transpired that Nuno was on borrowed time as news of talks filtered through the club.
The Portuguese boss’ approach has infuriated large sections of the Spurs fanbase, who really made their feelings known and didn’t want Nuno appointed as Jose Mourinho’s replacement.
Nuno was way down the list of potential candidates to land the Spurs job in the first place after the club failed to land a host of coaches including Julian Naglesmann, Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Rino Gattuso. Boy didn’t speculation on that go on and on.
Tottenham will now turn their attentions to identifying a replacement for Nuno, with Porto boss Sergio Conceicao said to have admirers at Spurs while Antonio Conte also tipped to get the job.
Ryan Mason could be forced to come in for a second stint as caretaker boss after stepping into the breach when Mourinho was sacked last season.
After Vitesse on Thursday, Tottenham return to Premier League action against Rafa Benitez’s Everton on Sunday.
TOP SIX FAVOURITES TO BECOME NEW TOTTENHAM MANAGER

Ryan Mason – 8/1
Eddie Howe – 10/1
Graham Potter – 12/1
Paulo Fonseca – 12/1
Marcelo Gallardo – 14/1
Every word Nuno said post-match
What are your overriding emotions after that and what have you said to the players?
It’s frustrating, disappointed. The expectation for this game were good. We wanted to perform well to try and do better. Frustrating, disappointing afternoon for us.
The fans made their feelings clear at half-time, full-time and one of your substitutions, are you confident you will be given the time to get this right?
I’m only thinking about the next training session. There are no words that are going to solve this situation. The booing and disappointment of the fans is understandable. When they don’t see the team they expect, the team that should play, and I truly believe that we are better than what we showed today, they are going to boo. They are going to boo. It’s up to us to change the mood.
Harry Kane struggled again, what do you think needs to change for him to get back to his best?
We have to improve all of us. It’s not about individuals. As a team we must do much better. It’s not only our offensive game. We are vulnerable in defence, we concede. We keep the ball, yes, but we had ten shots, none on goal. We have to be more accurate.
The final pass is not always the right line. It’s behind or in front. We have to improve, do much better. It sounds absurd but the only solution is we try to stick together and work together.
Can you explain your lack of shots on goal?
It’s hard to explain. We are better than we showed today. We should do better in certain situations. I truly believe we have the talent to do it but when things don’t work out, the confidence is one of the first things to go. We have to regain it, not by words but by actions. And hopefully we can do better on Thursday and prepare for the next one against Everton.
What’s going wrong? Your message not getting through? Or you message just wrong?
Maybe it’s none of them. You can have the right message, the right idea and things don’t go [to plan]. It’s not because of the message or understanding of the message. It’s the game of football. We started well, we had the ball and didn’t hurt too much. We had a goal that was not [allowed]. We conceded in a situation that we knew could happen and lost the momentum.
Second half, we go again with the message but it’s about what happens in the pitch and I believe we can do better and I trust these players. I will support them and stick with them until the end but in a humble way I ask the fans to keep helping us and supporting us so we change.

Tottenham. Please show ambition. Please give us financial backing. You can resolve the mess since Poch with one managerial signing. pic.twitter.com/bbmzZtVo7M

@thfclp__: @SpursOfficial
It might seem crazy what I am ’bout to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care, baby by the way
Huh (Because I’m happy)
Clap along if you feel like a room without a room
@Spurs_SpecialK: Announce Neil Warnock or Harry Redknapp
@watson_ya: We had a coach who took us to CL final knew we needed to rebuild and said so was sacked. Every top manager approached said the same and was not appointed. So we got to Nuno a decent man, and now he has been sacrificed on the ego of the boardroom who think they do no wrong.
@WTFootball_UK: Looking forward to 3 months and 15 rumoured candidates for Spurs to end up with Ryan Mason till the end of the season again.
@GonzoJamesH: Sorry it didn’t work out Nuno. Best of luck for the future.
@starlord_adam: Nuno seems like a nice bloke, I wish him well. It just wasn’t meant to be. I do put some of the blame on the players and most of it on Enic though, but Nuno is the fall guy.
@SophieThfc10: Thank you Nuno. Unfortunately seemed out of his depth, but all the best for the future!
@s17pur: Like all of our managers, he was set up to fail but he did seem to excel at the role.
@RiceSZN_: Justice for Nuno
@davefreeman1908: Let’s not forget the problem lies higher up the chain. Continual failure by one man to really invest in the club.
@haztalks: Thank you for the win against Man City but you simply weren’t meant to be appointed over here. A serious manager is all I ask for now, @SpursOfficial
@tottyfan: Seems a nice guy but he was out of his depth taking on project that is needed. The rebuild required needs a manager with experience at managing top players and who has an attacking style of play. Need Levy/ENIC to totally back the new manager and give the funds required to suceed
@_nor_A_A: 8th in the league sitting exactly where they should with the squad they have, 2 points off 4th place so well within a top4 chance. Given their recent football form hasn’t been great but that is football wow. Doesn’t get much Spursy than this.
@jeff_oakley1990: Not saying Nuno was the right man but what a stupid 6 months for the Spurs board.Messing up the chance to cash in big on Kane then appointing the 8th choice manager with a similar defensive mindset to Mourinho, only to sack him in 4 months.Who will want the job?
@busterforever: And they have the nerve to say we never gave Bruce a chance
@noelmickedy: Terrible decision he was doing a great job. Won Tottenham’s first trophy since 2008, by winning the first 3 games in the August Premier league competition.Did any other manager do that this year? Didn’t think so.
@ansusio: still wont win trophies sadly
