Darren Fletcher puts fan in his place following abusive shouting towards players after Man Utd beat Sabah 4-0 on Thursday night.
It is said that this took place as players left the ground, a fan took issue with those who decided not to stop and sign autographs.
Man Utd under 18s head coach Darren Fletcher told the fan: “Hey, listen. It doesn’t matter – you can’t speak like that. No, no. Show some respect. You’re the reason people don’t sign.”
@_StrettyEnd said: “The fan was abusive towards players when they didn’t stop.
“That fan was appalling! definitely crossed the line in what he said and how he said it!
“I can’t recall word for word, but he was shouting at every player who did not sign. Fletcher did sign, but didn’t get round to him, so as he walked away he said something like – you’re disrespectful and used bad words too. the way he said it too, very aggressive.”

It came after goals from Man Utd put four past Sabah thanks to goals from Matheus Cunha (27′), Bruno Fernandes (42′), Benjamin Šeško (45′), Lisandro Martinez (68′).
Man Utd’s Michael Carrick said in the press conference, as per Sky Sports:
“I think it was kind of what we set out to achieve, good performance, individually and collectively throughout the game, the boys that started, the boys that came on pitch, clean sheet, goals, exciting football. A good night all round.
“Results-wise, it has not been the start that what we wanted. We wanted more points in the league. But performance-wise, it has been a lot of things we are looking for.
“Collectively, as a team, we have done a lot of the right things and that is why were are excited about what the season will bring. It is really encouraging for me.”
On the performance of Benjamin Sesko…
“He definitely offers a different kind of threat, that is the beauty of it really, we know what Ben gives us and there are not many who can give us what he gives us. Speed, physicality, ability to play on the last line and run in behind. Great to have him back.”
Sabah head coach Valdas Dambrauskas said in the press conference:
“I didn’t feel like we were shaking or scared, we tried to play, for the whole 90 minutes we did that. We were escaping from time to time from United pressure.
“We will all go home thinking we could have done better, especially the result. The result could have been a little bit smaller.
“We did not have enough courage probably from the back line to get up. Our centre-backs stayed too deep, not afraid but maybe from inexperience we were over-evaluating the opponent.
“Because when you don’t squeeze that space and you allow those players to turn and run it is almost impossible to stop them.”
Twitter users reacted after a Darren Fletcher puts a fan in his place following abusive towards players after Man Utd beat Sabah…
@johnericturner: The fact a legend has to do this is heartbreaking to a proper red. Get this scum out of our club
@ODonnellDale: Interviewed an ex-player at a Manchester hotel some years ago. The profit-making autograph brigade stood outside for an hour after spotting him through the window. He offered to sign one item each, knowing what they intended to do with the multiple items.
@RizH0803: Go on Fletch! This fanbase genuinely gets worse and worse
@willjoy13: Always loved Darren Fletcher. What a guy
@MarkyB72: Go on Fletch lad. Entitled pricks fuck em!
@Christo02994968: How much of a fucking arsehole do you need to be to make DARREN FLETCHER angry like.
@tsk58cc: Well done to Fletcher for speaking up. Lots of fans with poor manners nowadays.
@UnitedReportHQ: Darren Fletcher calling out a fan who was verbally abusing the players and refusing to let it slide. Respect. 🫡❤️ You can criticise performances, but there’s no need to abuse the players. 🔴 #mufc
@Jimbob210712: Social Media Fans are great arn’t they…! They have even took to standing outside Old Trafford when the players leave and shout abuse at the players! Darren Fletcher last night pointed out to them “This is the reason players don’t want to come!” Expectations at 200% #MUFC
@vibesnotactics: fact that Fletch had to say something shows you how bad the abuse must’ve been. another reason the “match going fan” logic falls apart. the players don’t have much recovery time before the City game, they need to get rest, and you’re abusing them for not stopping? lol grow up
