Benjamin Tetteh was sent off for an attempted headbutt in a ‘naughty scrap’ with Oli McBurnie as Sheffield United beat Hull City.
Paul Heckingbottom’s team maintained their unwavering automatic promotion push with an 11th win in all competitions from their 13 previous games.
Hull fought hard and tried to get an equaliser. However, it was made tougher with Benjamin Tetteh sent off for attempting a headbutt in the 85th minutes.
In the fourth minute, Anel Ahmedhodzic broke down a right channel and slipped Iliman Ndiaye the ball.
Although his shot was blocked, Jebbison’s ball went in and hit home from seven yards.
Welcome back Oli!

Tetteh’s cameo ended when, after jostling for Oli McBurnie’s away free-kick, went for the United striker’s face.
Tetteh was shown a red and Hull’s hopes of extending their unbeaten away streak to an eighth game were dashed.
Rosenior said post-match Tetteh had apologised to him and his team-mates for getting sent off, saying he felt the striker got caught up in the emotion of the game.
“I think it was to do with the emotion both teams were showing,” Rosenior said. “They were giving everything and Benji made a mistake.
“He apologised to me and the players afterwards and it was a real shame because, at that point, we were looking like we were going to score.
“We were winning corner after corner and getting entries into their box. Benji also showed a lot of quality after coming on and he will be a big loss for us now.”
Rosenior took a lot of encouragement, however, from his team’s overall performance, saying: “I thought we pushed a very good team all the way.
“We went down a goal through switching off at a pattern of play that we knew to expect from Sheffield United, which was disappointing.
“But a lot of teams would have gone under after conceding so early and we didn’t. Even when we had 10 men on the pitch at the end, we were still pushing.
“Now I just need the players to start believing in their ability because we’re not far away from being a very good team at this level.”
Heckingbottom remain confident Sheffield United will not let their transfer embargo derail their bid for automatic promotion from the second tier.
The Blades have acknowledged the embargo but stressed in a statement their “primary objective” this season remains promotion to the Premier League.
Heckingbottom said: “The club have put out a statement and I have no more information to share on that. The EFL have sanctioned us and we are working out how to deal with that.
“We have dealt with all sorts of things since I have been here and this is just another thing. But we have got ourselves into a good position in the league and, whatever the outcome is, we won’t roll over.
“I’ve seen quite a lot in football – as a player and a manager – and it’s just another situation we have to make the best out of. There’s nothing at all I can do about it and it only becomes a distraction for the players if you let it be.”
This is what fans said as Tetteh gets sent off for his attempted headbutt in the ‘naughty scrap’ with McBurnie as Sheffield United beat Hull…
@AndyMoscrop: They’re are definitely 2 reds there
@twistedsister17: Love him 😁😁
@DougieSpen: Absolute joke decision if you red card Tetteh McBurnie has to follow him down the tunnel.
@Jeffo87: Stupid from Tetteh but how does mcburnie get away Scott free. #hcafc
@nutmeg_lionel:
Can’t defend Tetteh for that but McBurnie should’ve walked too!
1. He threw the forehead in first
2. That pikie tattoo on his leg!
@KsaHull: McBurnie is a shithouse, Tetteh should have never went in for the headbutt. But this ref is on crack, he’s disgustingly inconsistent
@leewelburn2: If tetteh walks so does mcburnie. Should’ve been a yellow for both and move on the refs a prick
@LeeScott92: Mcburnie is a little rat shithouse but that’s stupid from Tetteh. Just don’t react ffs #hcafc
@wikiwakawhat: How has tetteh got red and mcburnie nothing? #hcafc
@bigbadwalks: McBurnie was equally at fault as Tetteh was there. #hcafc
@HullCityItalian: McBurnie provokes and Tetteh is sent off. It wouldn’t be the same, if it was the on opposite sides…both should be red carded at least
@StormTroop_Aim: McBurnie wound him up but Tetteh went in with the second lunge. Always gets spotted by the ref #hcafc
@williamyoung95: Either send neither off or send them both off. Fucking ref. And both McBurnie and Tetteh are idiots.
@MattyHC5: “Tetteh is this, tetteh is that” what about the elbow every seems to be ignoring from mcburnie? That’s a straight red in itself and he gets a yellow? Shocking. Standard EFL officials though isn’t it, City miles off it tonight. #hcafc
@MattyHC5: Criminal like mcburnies record, appalling.
@William89181331: You what 😂. Tetteh got elbowed first?
@steele_clair: Why wasn’t they both sent off!!
@JordanBooth10: Love the way we’re the ones with the red card when they’ve been dirty as fuck for the entire game
@lewis__harrison: Everyone knows what he’s like. And you throw a fucking head butt, let us down tonight massively , absolute clown
