A Sunday League side this week announced ‘signing’ a former Championship keeper, however the player ended up having to rule it out.
Former Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Hartlepool United shot stopper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos was named by Marske FC on a short term deal.
Marske FC made a request to the player and after revealing a photo of Dimi having a photo with their Greek keeper, the ex-EFL goalie ‘liked’ it and the club confirmed that as a done deal.

Hartlepool Mail claim that 41 year old Konstantopoulos has been training with National League side Hartlepool United for majority of the season after being released by Boro.
He also hasn’t ruled out signing for the club as they have no available back-up to Ben Killip.
Check out a compilation of Dimi’s saves from a few seasons ago in the video below…
The keeper said: “A return to Hartlepool? Well, you can never say never.
“I’m just training at the moment to keep fit. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of months and take it from there.
“I would never rule anything out in football because things can change very quickly and I’ve really enjoyed being back.
“I’ve been training for five or six weeks now and the standard and quality of the lads is good.
“Whenever the lads need help I’m there to give them advice,” he said. “Ben Killip [Pool’s keeper] asks me questions. If he’s not sure about something, I try to help him with my experience but it’s been brilliant so far.”
Fans took to express their delight at Sunday League side Marske FC signing Dimi Konstantopoulos only to find out that the transfer was ‘fake news’ – see those tweets on the next page.
