Stratford Town appoint ex-Premier League and England player Tim Flowers as their new manager, and it’s quite a big name for the club’s level.
The 54-year-old former goalkeeper has revealed that he is looking forward to managing at the seventh tier outfit, who was most recently knocked out of the FA Cup First Round when hosting League One outfit Shrewsbury Town.
It comes after he took some time out of managing following his departure from National League side Barnet in March earlier this year.

We are delighted to announce Tim Flowers as the Bards first team manager!
Tim enjoyed a stellar playing career as a goalkeeper making 286 Premier League appearances for Leicester City, Southampton, and Blackburn Rovers with whom he won the Premier league title in the 94/95 season playing alongside the likes of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton.
He also represented the England national side winning 11 international caps between 1993 and 1998 and was a member of both the 1996 European Championship and the 1998 FIFA World Cup finals squads.
After his glittering playing career ended Tim moved into coaching and joined Northampton Town as goalkeeper coach where he stayed for just over two years before briefly joining Kidderminster Harriers in 2014 as first-team coach.
He then had a spell with Stuart Pearce at Nottingham Forest as their goalkeeping coach before joining Championship side Fulham as goalkeeping coach.
In November 2017 he was appointed as assistant manager at National Premier league Solihull Moors and was then promoted to manager in June 2018. Tim guided the Moors to a best-ever finish of second place in the National League as well as reaching the second round of the FA Cup leaving the Moors in January 2020 by mutual consent with the team just one point off a play-off place.
He made a return to football in August 2020 when he briefly joined Macclesfield Town before being appointed as Barnet’s new manager in December 2020.
On news of his appointment a delighted Tim outlined what Bards fans can expect from his Stratford team.

Head coach Paul Davis said on Twitter he was asked to work alongside Flowers, but was undecided on what his plans were.
He wrote: “Just to confirm the club have asked me to stay & work with Tim but I have not even had 24 hours to think about it! So I am still undecided on what I am doing! I will let everyone know in due course! Thank you for the messages of support!”
Flowers now hopes to help the Bards climb the Southern Premier Central table, currently sitting 14th, picking up 18 points after 15 games played.
