Stevenage manager Alex Revell spoke after the game about Reid, saying per The Comet: “He’s in brilliant form. He’s someone that’s worked incredibly hard over the past two months, he really has.
“He’s gone from strength to strength, he’s a massive part of the group, he’s a leader.
“I thought he worked incredibly hard and when you work incredibly hard like he did, you get the rewards.
“He really deserved it and everybody in the group knows the qualities he has. He’s a difference maker for us without doubt.
“I thought the first finish was someone that was just in complete control and then the second one, I thought that was probably one of the best goals he’s scored – the touch, the turn, the finish was so quick and sharp.
“I know I say it a lot and people will probably be bored of hearing it, but the group is a really special one that just works incredibly hard for each other.
“When you have that – and it’s the hardest thing to get in any football club – you just keep going, keep believing, keep driving.
“And then when you’ve got someone on the pitch that can turn a game in an instance, that gives you every chance.
“It was an incredible night for us.”
This club! I love you @StevenageFC I really, really do! https://t.co/VGmTrxFosW pic.twitter.com/zPTqFv3Pw7

Port Vale’s Darren Moore said on the result: “It’s a disappointing one but, like I said to the boys, I’m not going to let the 87 minutes that we showed go out of the window in terms of the last six, seven, eight minutes.
“What’s done us is just a lapse in concentration and that was the disappointing thing because up until then, we were very much in the ascendancy.
“We got our noses in front, believed we could have gone two goals to the good, we missed a couple of chances and then at the end it’s just concentration.
“When we look back at the goals, we’ve only got ourselves to blame really.”
This is how fans on social media reacted after Stevenage come from behind to beat Port Vale with two late goals to make it four wins from four…
@_BoroStats: The first time we have EVER won our opening four matches of an EFL season. Our joint-most goals scored in an EFL season, and most in League One, after four games. Our joint-most points, and most goals scored in our opening two away games in the EFL. Still TOP OF THE LEAGUE.
@sammdijk: What alternate reality have I fallen into where we are the greatest team to touch a football
@TheWelwynGooner: What a win that was…out of nowhere! Get in Reidy and fair fucking play to the team – proof you never ever give up! 🔥👏🏻👏🏻
@kaisbfc: I’d do disgusting things to Reidy tonight
@nxck1_: I don’t think I’m overreacting when I say we’re winning the fucking lot.
@Andrews22693311: We already have more wins than the 19/20 season. We have played 32 less games
@nickkkw: 4 wins out of 4. Top of the league. What an enjoyable start this has been!
@KPVFC10: fairs lads, we were the better team but didn’t take our chances, you did so fair enough
@Sugar_Mosley: Brilliant win tonight and I’m chuffed to bits for Reidy with both of his goals! Take nothing away from Port Vale they were the better team tonight 👏 BGR IS BACK BABY AND FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
@John_Oakes999: Unbelievable turnaround boys, I’m buzzing right now 👏 Jamie Reid 🐐
@Adam_PVFC: Funny how every single fan around me can call exactly what will happen, yet DM can’t see it coming… 11 men behind the ball at home while only 1-0 up 🥴🥴 #pvfc
@AshL2T: Dominate the game and look like finishing the game off, if you don’t score sitters you get punished as well as sitting behind the ball against a clinical side. Welcome back to League One 👍 #pvfc
@JakeValiant1876: Very harsh lesson about league 1 that. Played well for the most part again but if you don’t take your chances you will get punished. Might get away with it in league 2 but you definitely won’t in league 1. We need to learn from tonight. #pvfc
@SamJPVFC: Well done moore great idea taking Clarke and Gordon off cost us the 3 points 👍
@chrisw96: How many times have we seen that exact same situation? Winning the game, comfortable, don’t take our chances to finish it off, take our eye off the ball and throw it away. Few horrific subs just to top it off #pvfc
