Steven Gerrard amuses as he attempts Arabic with a Scouse accent in his personal message to Al Ettifaq fans after becoming the new manager.
Stevie G published an announcement video, only for it to go viral across social media after users heard his “Scouse Arabic”.
He completed a surprise U-turn by becoming the manager of the Saudi Arabian club on Monday, becoming the latest in a list of big names across European football to make the switch to the Saudi Pro League.
His arrival comes despite the 43-year-old, who was sacked as Aston Villa boss in October, said last month: “As we stand right now, I won’t be taking up the offer.”
However, it appears Gerrard is taken to a new adventure in the Middle-East by even attempting to speak some Arabic in his announcement.
A clip uploaded to Ettifaq’s socials, showed Gerrard trying to speak in Arabic, saying what could be translated as: “I am Steven Gerrard. I am an Ettifaqi. See you soon.”
His Liverpudlian’s thick accent is just too strong, overriding any attempt at Arabic. Watch the video below…

After his arrival, Al-Ettifaq are now ambitiously targeting Jordan Henderson as a big-name signing for new boss Steven Gerrard… yet the Liverpool captain still has two years to run on his Anfield deal. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also another being linked.
Gabby Agbonlahor slammed Simon Jordan for what he said live on talkSPORT about Steven Gerrard’s move.
Jordan had said: “If you want to make a football decision that is going to take you on a journey that will make you a very successful manager and you back yourself, then you don’t need to go to Dubai or the Middle East or wherever he’s [Gerrard] going.
“In this instance, this is not a football decision, he’s not going to advance as a coach, he’s not going to enhance his reputation amongst those eyes that might look at him and go, ‘oh look at what you did in the Saudi league.’
However, Gabby Agbonlahor hit out at Jordan and branded him a hypocrite.
He tweeted: “You would get a ferry to Saudi if you got offered silly money to work on the radio over there! So please stop it mate.”
Jordan tweeted in response to Agbonlahor: “I would get a ferry to anywhere if it meant not having to clap eyes again on your gormless mug.”
Agbonlahor then added: “I don’t appreciate being spoken to like that let’s have a chat tomorrow at work [muscle emoji].”
