Gareth Southgate reveals the final pre-World Cup England squad for the Nations League matches as new home and away kit photos surface.
New official pictures of the England 2022 World Cup home and away kits have emerged, and it’s important to note that England’s are the only jerseys to not be part of the official launch today and will officially only be presented on September 21st, which is when the full collections will go on sale.
The Nike England 2022 home shirt combines England’s traditional white main color with sky blue & navy – “White/Blue Fury/Blue Void”. It is a color combo that evokes memories of the late 1990s. But it’s had very mixed opinions. Mostly bad.
The Nike England 2022 away jersey is red, combined with navy and light blue for logos and design elements. It is the first mainly red England away shirt since the 2018 World Cup. This is the better of the two new kits set for release, proving very popular with fans, with many saying it’s better than the current away one.
We’ll have more on this come the time of official release, however now we talk on the other big story, the England squad announcement.
England face Italy away on Friday the 23rd of September at 7.45pm, before hosting Germany on Monday the 26th of September at 7.45pm.
The Three Lions have had a tricky time in their A3 group, currently sitting bottom of the pile with two draws and two defeats to their name.
They lost 4-0 to Hungary in June in what was England’s biggest home defeat since 1928.
Southgate’s men face potentially being relegated to the B League, with the team three points adrift from Italy in third and five points behind surprise leaders Hungary.
The Nations League fixtures are the last ones before the World Cup, the squad Gareth Southgate picks will surely give clues as to which players will be joining him on the plane to Qatar in November.

Meanwhile, England coaches Gareth Southgate and Sarina Wiegman have took to pay tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth II as the home nations continue to mourn her death.
The FA has already confirmed tributes will be paid at the UEFA Nations League fixture with Germany at Wembley Stadium on Monday the 26th of September including a period of silence before kick-off and the wearing of black armbands.
Gareth Southgate OBE said: My thoughts today are with His Majesty King Charles III, the FA President HRH The Duke of Cambridge and the Royal Family.
In remembering and celebrating the life of Her Majesty The Queen, we are also acknowledging her remarkable leadership and lifetime of dignified service.
She showed the world what it is to be British. Her values, her dignity, her resilience were an exemplar to us all and she has provided us with stability and reassurance in the best and also most difficult of times.
I was proud to have her as our patron and to sing God Save The Queen before every match.
The team will have the chance to pay our respects at our fixture with Germany later this month. An occasion that will, of course, bring to mind the World Cup final in 1966 and the moment when Her Majesty handed the Jules Rimet trophy to Bobby Moore.
As Wembley and the country falls silent, I will think of that and her 70 years of impeccable duty.’

Sarina Wiegman said: It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
I just wanted to join the many millions of people across the world to celebrate her life and mourn her passing. My homeland has always had a great deal of respect, admiration and love for her and I know that is a feeling not unique to the Netherlands but across the entire world.
Developing my connection with England strengthened my bond to Her Majesty. I could feel the love the public felt for her, a mother figure for people to seek stability and peace from in uncertain times.
The national anthem sung with such respect by my players and staff, served as a reminder of what she meant to the country. The words ‘send her victorious’ a line written on our shirts but was also in our hearts.
This summer she took the time to write to me and my players congratulating us for our success. In that letter she called us an ‘inspiration for girls and women’. It is you, your Majesty, who was the inspiration with your unrelenting work ethic, leadership, dignity and kindness.
My thoughts are with the Royal Family and the whole of the United Kingdom as they come to terms with this tragic news.
There was plenty of reaction as Gareth Southgate reveals the final pre-World Cup England squad as new home and away kit photos surface…

@Wolvoryan04: Kilman should be in
@MadnessFc4: what else does Maddison have to do
@JHayess8: MAGUIRE over Max Kilman is a crime
@LuisAdrianoUK: YES @ivantoney24 ! 🐝 History right there! Feel like a proud parent! I would say go smash it but no need, just do what you do. So deserved. Get him on the 🇶🇦 ✈️ Gareth and I may have to get one of those ghastly new shirts with an Ivan name set #COYB 🦁🦁🦁

ON THE KITS
@danrees92: That has to be the worst ever England home kit 🤢
@hopzysWRLD: they had one job
@KB_ONeill: Home awful, away sensational
@REALPARKEN: Away is a future classic
@CovIam: Should just play in the away shirt as that home shirt is bloody awful.
@PatJHennessy: Home is dreadful but at least has blue shorts. Away shirt OK but all red is a no-no, must be white shorts.
@_PhilWorld: The home shirt looks like a training top.
@nick32346705: Got to be worst England kits I’ve ever seen … terrible
@danw_1986: Red one is nice, white one is horrible.
@jambounchained1: The women’s shirts are miles better than these.
@gloryglorytott: They look like a pyjama England kit knock off that my nan would have bought me from Littlewoods in the 1980’s.
@Gary_Poynton: Possibly the worst England home kit of my lifetime. Away is a banger though
@makkathfc: Home kit 🤮 Away kit 😍
@ltfckimbo: They have to do an Umbro tribute because Nike designs are so terrible that people just buy the old Umbro re-makes.
@nathanlong26: Have to hope we get to the final in the away shirt. Can’t be winning our first tournament since 66 wearing that car crash of a home shirt
@sbinn286: Nice of them to let the work experience guy design the home shirt.
@alexhardy1987: Really nice away shirt but why are the shorts red too? I wish Nike would stop doing this. They should be white.
@JohnM_1987: Nike should be convicted for their kits the last few years
Big improvement on the England away shirt, which should’ve had white trim and not red. 🏴
Don’t mind the shorts being red too – would be tedious if the away kit was always red shirt, white shorts, red socks. pic.twitter.com/867u1ZxJSs
