South Shields post sick message they received from potential punter who ‘hoped the team would die’

South Shields have unfortunately had to come out and post a message that they received from potential punter over the weekend.

The Mariners drew 3-3 against Bamber Bridge on Saturday, however following the result, a message was posted by a potential punter.

It read: “I hope your whole team dies today for that 3-3 you idiots”.

South Shields’s wrote in the description of their post: “Do we really need to receive messages like this when we do not win a game of football?

“It’s a game of football, after all. Thankfully this didn’t come from a Shields fan – just someone who may have bet on us to win, we suspect – but it’s not the first time. Think before you send, please!”

Do we really need to receive messages like this when we do not win a game of football? 🤷‍♂️

It's a game of football,…

South Shields struggled to cope with the conditions of Storm Erik but really looked like they were set to claim all three points when Nathan Lowe, Jon Shaw and Robert Briggs put them 3-1 up.

However, Bamber Bridge scuppered their two-goal lead heading into the final 10 minutes, finding the net twice in three minutes to end the game 3-3.

The result meant that it stopped South Shields from extending their winning run to nine games, it also saw promotion contenders and their next opponents, Warrington Town, go two points clear of the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Of course many would have had the Mariners to win the game, which they failed to do, causing to ruin many bets. But it’s completely wrong for punters to think it is ok to vent their anger towards the club’s social media pages.

Football fans including those of South Shields took to unhappily reply to the club’s post of the message they received – take a look at what they said on the next page.
